Amiga related BBS's

Considering my new interest in Amiga/Amiga emu I have come to realize that the Classic Workbench and other Amiga software is a pretty functional and snazzy set-up with a minimal footprint compared to todays bloated software and o/s's. I am actually able to perform some real work with my emulated Amiga set-up.
I think back to my days Bbsing in the early 1980's with a 1200 baud modem and recall I have some fond memories of those times.
Fast forward to 2014...I live in rural Florida and my only high-speed internet option is satellite, with which I have a daily bandwith cap. Downloading any significant software for modern operating systems usually leaves me hard-throttled, feeling like I'm on dial-up.
Hmmm...the Amiga is starting to look better...lot's of nice software and games with a small filesize.
Finally getting to my point & request...does anyone have a good list of current Amiga related telnetable BBS's?
I think I want to re-kindle my earlier memories of bbsing like the days before the internet like we know it.
Regards

I'm not aware of any, unfortunately. There is a number of them for the C64 though.

Hi Claz,
There are a number of BBSs online today, but I wasn't able to find any hosted on Amiga hardware. Here are a few resources for you:
http://www.telnetbbsguide.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._board_systems

I am "attempting" to set up a CNET based bbs on my A4000. I have a long way to go, and my X-Surf is "in the mail". With any luck i should have something online in a month or so. Not sure how practical or useful a BBS is for the modern age, but there are plenty of folks stuck with slow satellite connections that might find a Fidonet type of email platform of use. I'm really just setting this up out of pure nostalgia. My brother and I hosted the Camelot BBS back in the day and it was great fun interacting with other nerds prior to the Internet revolution.

I was recently thinking about setting one up myself. I have a couple A2000's that don't get much use, and I was thinking it might be cool to setup an Ami-Express based telnet BBS. It would be fun to have one setup with some cool ANSI art, and with the last caller, last upload list.

I just don't know if I'd be better off using a real A2000 (would have to purchase a network card), or if I could do the same thing on an old PC running winuae?

The weirdest thing when I try to access this BBS. After passing the initial login and applying for a new user, whenever I enter my new to create password, it's rejected. Short, long, combination of alphanumeric and numeric... To no avail. Anyone any idea what might be the issue?

Tnx!

Hrm. I try to access these boards via term -> serial -> tcpser -> internet

Then:

Code:
telnetd.device: Waiting for unit to answer.
telnetd.device: Connected to TCP/IP port 23 unit 1

NO CARRIER
Other BBSes are also working OK.

But when I use Putty it works

Hmm. I am in the process of setting Amiga and C64 to telnet some BBSs too. Did you use the right port?

I found a working BBS: SCiZE's CLASSIC / Genesis Whq.
I was able to connect/register and can search files, but i'm not able to (T)ag a file and download it.
the webbased client does not work for me, i'm using DCTelnet.
scenelist.hopto.org Port 23 / on Username enter NEW if you are new user, want to regsiter.

the file I want is SSTORE.ZAP in the Amiga conference.

can anyone try to download?!

Won't let me tag either, probably a new user restriction.

oh, ok.
i did the Zippy Search for the file, got listed, and (T)ag failed, but if you (T)ag *
it will select 12 files, index files it seems.
maybe a restriction, until the accounts get verified. i have no clue.

the file i'm looking for is listed in the Boilerroom BBS index, but not in the archive itself. I did a websearch and found the BBS site.

#1) i could now connect using the website-client, i was using the EAB handle
still no joy, (T)ag still not working

#2) just found this in a comment on the BBS -> MasturbationStation BBS changed address it seems: mstation.servebbs.com Port 23

#3) afetr login into the BBS you see a userlist, with a column called Flags, -> "---N--" at the moment, other have "---DC--",
so we are New and have to wait

i think this is the one the widest C= BBS lists
http://cbbsoutpost.servebbs.com/

my BBS is not there even i have try >10 times to set my account there =(
so i stop trying...

Genetic-point BBS
SW: MAX's Pro
Telnet: g-point.tunk.org port 500
Web: g-point.tunk.org:2222

a small piece of advice for new BBS installers
Maintaining the BBS will quickly become nasty if there is no active message forum
especially if the system does not visit anyone in weeks so how you get any action there if no one write anything ?

one way is install some Fido channel but there is not so many active
channels and part is also incompatible with the old programs like Amiga
that's why I am actively trying to awaken the debate on the opening of my own in retro channel ! so even silent BBS get some noise.
