After creating OS 3.9 Emergency Disk: Cannot open "cd.device" unit 2

After I successfully created an emergency disk from the OS 3.9 cd-rom I restarted the Amiga.

After the first reboot it said: "Cannot find df0:"

After the second reboot it said "Cannot open "cd.device" unit 2".

I use an external Archos Overdrive CD-rom player.

This is the startup-sequence created by OS 3.9 on the ED:

Copy cd.device from your harddrive to the Devs directory of the emergency disk.

(Although after the first reboot I still got a message "Cannot find DF0", but this disappeared after that reboot).
