1200 motherboard revisions
Hi Guys I was wondering which revision motherboard should I keep out of these three fully working but as yet not recapped A1200s.
1D1 1D4 2B The 1D4 is my own original from the 90s but with 3.1 roms. The 1D1 and 2B are both inherited from my friend of 30+ years who passed away late last year. The 2B is stock 1200 with 3.0 roms. The 1D1 my m8 spent quite a lot of £££ on expanding it around 2013-14, first off I sold him "because I was skint and I wanted to buy an old Korg Triton Workstation sampler keyboard synth" my Phase 5 Blizzard 030/50 Mk.IV with the SCSI expansion Board with 32mb ram 2*16mb sticks but he upgraded them to 2*128mb sticks, then he bought an Indivision 1200 AGA MK2cr, then a FastATA 1200 MK-IV IDE CF/SATA. also upgraded the roms to 3.1. I know he had alot of probs so he had AmigaKit sort it all out for him, he even had a 30GB nova SSD installed by them , I think they had it for in excess of 6 months. After all that he ended up just using a CF adaptor and a 64GB CF card. Including time spent at Amigakit and all his upgrades it must have amounted to more than £700. But he never had any recapped which I find strange. So should I Leave as is or transfer all that into either the 1D4 or 2B after getting them Recapped First of course. Also I am thinking of getting the new roms just to make things easier to set up for large disk support. Last edited by steveh; 16 March 2019 at 15:29. Reason: To correct Indivision version and FastATA version. |

To honour your friend and his efforts. I would keep his A1200.
I haven't seen much of a need for newer revisions to be honest. The issue with newer revisions was timing fix being needed if I recall. |

cheers the 2B is being recapped now will be ready Tuesday then dropping off the 1D4 for recapping. then I will get the 1D1 done too, I just dont know which model is the most stable, I dread having to dismantle the above system but it must be done to get the recapping it needs.

To be honest, if you do the relevant timing fixes (usually removing components that weren't supposed to be fitted in the first place) on a board there's not a huge amount in it. I have a fully loaded 1200 in a tower using a 2B board (with the fixes done) and it's great, no stability issues at all.
