How to build scrolling tricks examples?

Hello, I was trying to build an example program from the famous "scrolling tricks" tutorial, by using the ADE-repack toolchain. But I can't assemble the .asm part because the included assembler ("as", IIRC) doesn't accept the "section" directive.
What can I use?

Use a real Amiga assembler.
The GNU-as syntax differs extremely from the Motorola standard used by most 68k assemblers.
