Nothing more you need to do mate.
I have the same setup except that instead of CD-ROM I used an IDE to CF adapter in my A600 and works like a charm. The only thing you need to check is whether the power supply is enough |

I've never seen a 44 pin adaptor before - only 40 pin.
I'm not sure whether you could power a harddrive and a CD from the mbIDE. Maybe if using a compact flash HD? Please don't connect the four pin molex to the adaptor whilst the 44 pin cable is also attached as they both provide power. Someone please advise on the technicalities as we don't want any hardware on fire! |

that looks cool!
bit pricey at £5 BUT you do get the all important CS/MA/SL jumper positions! hmmm i didn't see a molex connector... but hey its late.... and my eyes are blurry and that image is a little outa focus too... and white on white.... never a good idea... lol hmmm power... well to be honest, you will never know untill you try... i have had two hard drives running from the same IDE port (both 2.5" drives) so its possible... (i did have a non-regular PSU) |

There is no power input, seeing as its a 44way it is powered from the cable and now i have it working perfectly just needed the ataip.device to be installed and its on slave now and yes the 20gb hdd and laptop dvd-rw both work at the same time without problems.
Now i just need to mount the dvd-rw some how into the case and i will be set. |

Here's a suggestion as I am in the same boat, Got the hardware but too scared to carve up my A1200.
There's a seller on ebay UK who sells empty A1200 shells in quite good condition fairly regularly & cheaply... Haven't included his name here as I don't know if it's against EAB rules. Could be used for a "practice" attempt without adding undue stress!! Seller is airey36 Last edited by TheCorfiot; 08 May 2008 at 14:14. |

Zetro me good mate,
As always your handiwork skills are simply awesome.... Did you fit the Optical drive in the middle due to the HD being in place or will it fit above the Video outs,,, I think Doog has done that... I wish I had the confidence (& the right tools) to do it, because I think the end result is so much better than a Towered A1200 which is just wrong, too PC like..... Still as I say I've got all the bits ready, I'm not using an IDE fix because I'm only using the single port anyway, Just need to get a cable ready for it 44way to 40 to 40... & the power cable of course... BTW awesome paintjob on the A1200 & Black keys too.... Mate you are so inspiring, I'm going to take the plunge at some point, it's simply going to happen!! & then.......Let there be pron. Take Care. |

@TC,
you dont know!? DUDE.... your gonna love this!!! thats my Fantasy Amiga x86 Project http://www.guildserver.co.uk/project...g2_itemId=1204 Its an athlon 2600xp on an SBC PICMG form factor board, with 1gb ram, 32mb Graphics Ac97 and Sound blaster pro with CF boot and 100ata IDE, LAN etc. Running Amithalon, Linux, XP(striped and skined to an amiga like with cutom loader) and Freedos. using custom boot loader and modified BIOS screen i had to shelve the project due to power requirements, (its needs 15amps on the +5 and the most i can get is 13 and thats with 10% added tollerance ) so its a wating game to get that up and officially runnnig when i get the juice this will get the full release. the mounting of the Optical drive bay was needed in the middles as the requirement of power (using a PICOPSU at the time) reduces the space at that side of the computer... wait till you see it all my friend... your gonna get a real kick out of it... now i would love to take credit for those keys, BUT, there from a broken CDTV keyboard waste not want not |

Zets,
I've just had a good long look through the galleries, That is a real beast under the hood, Feel quite dizzy after all that pron The PicoPSU is quite interesting, Whats your loading on the +12V line, could you use some 7805 Regs off the +12V to supply the HD + Optical drive. But 15Amps .... Mate what an ambitious but fulfilling project, you got to finish it soon & get some working screenshots. Makes my intended mod that I'm scared to do look like childsplay WoW |

Thanks for the kind words my friend
I did actually make a build log, that downloadable from there, its a good read... especially some of the errors i made LOL I do want to finish this project, it would be a shame not to... alas the PICMG board requires 13 amps to fire up, but recommends a 300watt PSU, alas thats more like 25amps, I believe a good quality PSU thumping out 15amps on the +5 will have the motherboard singing... we shall see.... I did tihnk of assiting it with the +12, but theres just not enough juice from the PICO, arguably it did see a PWR-220 (Pico-esque) recently and that was 12amps peak on the +5.... HMMMmmmmm *Zetr0 ponders this... |

I have the following Optical Drive adapter from maplins.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...47&doy=8m5#faq Has anyone used this one and how would you go about selecting Master / Slave operation. I presume it's to do with the Row of four pins but there's no markings on the board. Somebody has asked if it is selectable and the answer he got was just "Yes" not actually how to Thanks all |

Cheers Zetro,
The Jumper config block is the M/S selection, I think we both agree, but what pins need to be jumpered for which mode I don't know, If we can't work it out, I'll have to hardwire it into the cable and use cable select. "Hardware pron"................cause every little helps... |
