ZorRam problem

Hi guys, got a problem with ZorRam on a A4000.

The A4000 is a rev b motherboard with Buster 11, 2MB Chip and 4MB Fast.
Rev b daughter board with a Denab and Buddah installed and lastly an Indivision.

The problem I'm getting is that when i install the ZorRam I get a red screen at boot up saying that the board is defective but I've tried the board in my A3000 and it works perfectly with the early boot up screen reporting that the board is working.

I've removed everything from the 4000 apart from the indivision and it still says its defective.

The cpu card is an A3630.

Anybody got any ideas of anything to try ?.

Cheers.

Try it without any other Zorro cards installed first?

Try a different Zorro slot?

Make sure your Deneb is updated to V9 firmware?

You absolutely sure you got a Buster Rev11? A red-screen & "defective" in early startup sequence is synonymous with very early ZorRam's and Buster Rev 9.

Thanks for the quick reply...

Have tried it without any other zorro cards installed and have tried it in different slots.

Yes its a buster 11, just to make sure my a3000 has a buster 11 and it worked in that so i removed the buster from the 3000 and put it in the 4000 still same fault.

Its a strange one .
Even Amigakits stumped I think.

Unless of course there is something wrong with my 4000's board but in every other way it works.

If Amigakit is stumped then that probably means Michael Bohemer of E3B is also stumped but it may be worth sending him an email direct?

Is there any version number or serial number on the ZorRAM itself you can send in your email for diagnosis?

--------------------------

What kickstart ROM do you have?

There is something here about the Kickstart ROM mapping the ZorRAM outside of the ZIII address space

http://www.e3b.de/usb/main_faq_e.html#DENEB_ENDOFZ3

I know this is when using a Mediator but if by some strange reason you've got a prototype Kickstart ROM or something where autoconfig doesn't work properly??

-------------------------------------

What happens if you fit 16Mbytes of FastRAM on your A4000 motherboard?

Most testing of ZorRAM I believe will have been done with an A3000/A4000 maxed out with 16Mbytes of FastRAM on the motherboard and not 4Mbytes as you describe above.

---------------------------------

Out of curiosity how much motherboard Fast RAM do you have in your A3000?

Off the top of my head I cant remember how much fast ram is in the 3000, will have a look tomorrow.

Was thinking about getting hold of 16mb from amigakit so I suppose this is the excuse to do it .

The Kickstart rev is 3.1
Cheers alexh
