commodore 1084s switching setup, why didn't this work?

I have 2 amiga 1200's. 1 1084s monitor

This 1084s doesn't have a scart input, It looks like it's supposed to be there but it's blanked out with a bit of plastic so I'm guessing it's not even behind that. Only a 6pin din RGB input and a comp rca input

I went and bought this scart switcher box
I think you all know the ones I mean, 3 scart inputs labeled A B C and a TV/Monitor out scart. and some audio rca's at the top.

so then I bought the 3 necessary cables. 2 x DB23 females to male scart. and a male scart to 6pin din.

set it all up, started switching between A and B. blank screen the whole time

Have you tried this setup into a normal TV to make sure the switcher is passing RGB signals through?

Your issue is simple:

6-pin RGB doesnt have C-Sync, only H/V.
Scart uses C-Sync.

If I take apart the scart-to-6pin apart and change the layout of the wires (scart end) to match the pinout of the monitor's RGB input + amiga output wouldn't it work? as all I'm doing is matching up pins. green red blue ground and h sync. I found a diagram of the pinout for the 1084s on google. as you call tell I'm not very techy but I do have a soldering iron and I'm not afraid to use it soon lol

In reply to indigolemon, sadly not got a TV around with a scart input.

Oh and before anyone asks, Why don't I just toggle between 2 Amiga's by having one of them setup with the comp rca to the monitor and hit the button on the front. Well the answer is simple haha, no one wants a horrible fuzzy distorted image. I like the crisp look that's how I roll.

OK sort of given up really. I eventually came across a DB23 connector switch box. there was even one for a 4 into 1 but just went for the 2 into 1. Sadly it's got to arrive from the US.
I know what you're thinking, why don't you just get another monitor. Well, I don't have the space. or a 2nd working CRT monitor.

I gave up because of all this vertical, horizontal sync, c-sync stuff. I stumbled across a message board thread that went into further details about some one having to add resisters here and there and it totally went over my dumb head.
Looks like I'm gonna have to sell this scart switcher box now.

You can't match SCART to the 6-pin DIN, since SCART carries only the Composite Sync (HSync and VSync combined), but for this particular 1084 you need seperate HSync and VSync.
There are 1084 models with SCART input (I'm using such a unit) and they accept CSync.

There is something else you can do, though.
Instead of SCART, use 23pin-to-VGA adapters, then feed the VGA signal to a mechanical VGA switcher (some non-mechanical units might work with 15Khz but I never tried).
VGA carries separate H/V Sync, so you'll need a VGA-to-DIN6 cable for the 1084.
I used this setup for a long time with two Amigas and it worked great.

This is what I'm talking about:

The DIN-based 1084 models can also be rebuilt to use SCART.
