Convert SoundTracker 31 Instrument...?
Watcha chaps.
I'm working on a new demo for a group that shall remain nameless for now. They've supplied me with a SoundTracker 31 instrument format .mod I'd like to convert this to ProTracker format if possible. I've tried loading it into ProTracker 2.3d but the track ends up either heavily or partially screwed by doing this. Any idea how to convert it...? Failing that, anyone know of a fast SoundTracker 31 instrument replayer source code that I can use to play the module instead...? |

It does seem possible to convert the .mod to ProTracker format using MilkyTracker on the PC to load the module and then save it out as ProTracker 2.x format.
However, when you do that, MilyTracker gives a warning saying that there are unsupported functions in the format being saved to. The .mod will then load into ProTracker 2.3d and plays OK except there are gaps in the song where the unsupported functions are. Oh well, I'd better start looking around to see if there's a 68k SoundTracker 31 instrument replayer source anywhere... |

To my knowledge, DP often recognizes wrongly a Soundtracker 31 if the ID was messed up. You could try to force "M.K." at pos $438.

Maybe there is a mod packer that supports st31i-mods that you could use. Those usually come with replayers. (:
I would check exotica for these things, and also for standard replayers. Edit: Had a quick look and found this, don't know if it's what you want tho -> http://old.exotica.org.uk/source/rep...Tracker_v2.6.s Last edited by Skope; 16 September 2010 at 22:59. |

Thanks for that Skope
The more I delve into this the more I think the problem with the module is less with it being Soundtracker 31 instrument format and more with ProTracker unsupported FX being used during the song. I'm assuming most likely the tune was made on a more modern PC tracker program and then saved out as .mod format and for whatever reason the FX used don't work on older versions of trackers like you get on the Amiga. I'll get in contact with the guy who made the module. |

If you want I can take a look at it and see if there's anything I can do about fixing it.

Like I say though, the .mod was supplied to me by the demo group - one of their musicians made it - so I'll have a word with the guy who made it and see whether it can be fixed or whether he can make a ProTracker compatible .mod instead. |

Turns out the .mod won't play cos it was made with a modern PC tracker (FastTracker type thing...) and uses too many octaves.
It was DeliPlayer that told me it was a SoundTracker 31 instrument format - last time I trust that for module identification. The mod's gonna have to be remade. |
