Amiger , you've mentioned SNES, MD and PCE games..

I haven't played one single game CD-Rom PCE game... . I've read there are some very good games on CD-Rom for the PCE, I would kill to play Gates Of Thunder, Lords of Thunder and Dracula X.

TG 16 had the best shooters. I never owned one but played it at apals house. I have every Sega, SNES and TG 16 game that I could ever play. And that fantasy being fulfilled by emulation kicks buttoks.
It is very hard to find ISOs of PCE Super CD games. I have not found one yet.

Overall the quality of shooters on the Turbografx-CDROM/SuperCDROM2 system was *quite* superior to what was available for Genesis/SNES. Although the Genesis did have Thunder Force 3 (later released as Thunder Spirits on the SNES).

The biggest problem with Genesis shooters was typically the insane difficulty levels...

Thunder spirits sucked compared to Thunder Forcer 3.

I think the machine with the best shmups ever is the Sega Saturn, but that's not what we are discussing here. The PCE comes in 2nd, and the MSX comes in 3rd (Athoulgh the MSX has the best shmup ever, imo).

Most shmups are indeed hard, in any systems. It's mainly because, unlike other genres, they are made for *ahem* real skilled players *ahem*

The Chaos Engine on SNES isn't half bad. Speedball 2 on Mega-Drive is identical to the Amiga one. I didn't like Xenon 2 on Mega-Drive, but I never enjoyed the Miggy version anyway too.

Don't be so harsh on the poor consoles, Akira .

I have Dracula X on PCE CD-ROMĀ². Abso-fucking-lutely brilliant.

TF3 is pish compared to something like Soldier Blade on the PCE. And the high difficulty level does not make a shooty game bad, it actually makes it better . Try Truxton on for size!

Not at all... Akumajo Dracula X68000 is the second best Dracula game ever, Dracula X PCE stays at the top of the list IMO

Let me remind you again, that you are comparing an 8bit game to a 16/32 bit one .

The SNES Dracula X is pathetic.

Also recommended on SNES:

Lost Vikings 2
Super Double Dragon
Super SWIV

and on the Genesis/Mega Drive:

Mega SWIV

Super & Mega SWIV are actually the same game anyway......

EDIT: I took another look as Super + Mega SWIV and they are quite similar, but far from being the same. Don't know what I was thinking....

Hi, there.

I have verified and corrected my list on the first page e.g. some games have other names etc.
Now I have most of the games listed. Only the items marked with "*" are missed. If anybody has one of these or knows where I can download them: please contact me. If anybody wants to have one of the games listed: PM me or post it her...

I don't want to revive this thread to often but I think I will update the list sometimes in the near future because I found some nice review sites on the web. There are simply to many good games for these consoles...

I'm urgently searching "Ys Book 1-4" for PC Engine !!!

@maddog:
I've tried Super SWIV and: WHOW !!! Really good...
Never seen such a great thing on the amiga... ups, hope nobody read this...

@Shatterhand:
I found "Gate Of Thunder"-Iso for PC Engine. Please contact me if you want it.
