Finding a Component Thread

now i don't get to start a new thread very often here so I like to do it right.

Now as well all know as time moves on and on, we all need to replace components of our beloved amigas and other hardware well i figure this thread could help those in sourcing either original components or compatible parts

cool huh?

okay... well since i started this i can go first.

I have a card that needs an SMD Electrolytic Capacitor... now this would normally not be a problem... however

Here is its designation

T3
100
16V

here is an image of what type it is.... (the 55 is replaced with T3)

Now i need helping in find this component, is it a tantalum ? or just a strangely designated capacitor?

any help, ideas appreciated

I haven't seen a tantalum in that kind of package so I guess its not. There is also no real guideline on how to print details on the capacitors. Every manufacturer makes his own decision. If you know the voltage and capacitance you are fine.

That cap looks exactly as a 100uF x 16V to me.

Zetro I agree with Rod, I don't think Tantalums come in 100microfarad capacities, well they didn't in my day anyway....

Good Idea for the thread mate, I need to find a set of Smoothing Caps & a Pal Encoder for my A1200/040, wouldn't it be nice to just buy a ready collected kit

I need a new CD drive for a CDTV.

Or are we talking smaller components here?

I cannot see why not

can the CDTV CDROM be replaced with the A570 mechanism?

Perhaps mechanism only but not electrically, it has different drive, A570 PCB has common (at that time, uses very different command protocol than CDTV) Sony CD controller chip not present on CDTV and also Xilinx FPGA that apparently translates between CDTV-style commands and new A570 drive commands.

I guess they wanted to keep 100% hardware CDTV compatibility but CDTV drive was not available anymore. Or something like that..
