demos collection (hdf)

is there any demo collection out there, ready to run pre installed on hdf?
so don't have to install anything and simply need to run and watch demos?

Kind of, in the sense of setting up a partition that looks like a CD, and copying an old Coverdisk ISO into it. People can't , stop you doing it, but they can stop posts about how you go about that. It's far from an ideal method.

Another way to do legi is setup something for distro only uses freeware or shareware setup, doesn't include system files. Or minimal files for use.

I guess you can argue that if you use ONLY system parts necessary for self boot, that's legit. The issue is when you include a near complete, working WB. A demo collection doesn't need that, but does need a front end, of some kind.

I am unware of the current status, but CBM never chased you for just enough to get a Workbench you could click icons on. That takes a few files, not hundreds.

If somebody wants to chase me know over that, or tell me it's illegal, they could well be correct, because I only know basic rules in my country, UK. Yours might be different.

This is an issue for distributing Amiga stuff today. I can see that.

I would be very surprised if CBM chased anyone about anything these days, no matter what the status of copyright is in any country.

And nothing you have described is even slightly illegal, so there's that.

Just unpack on your hard drive and execute the demos yourself. might need a bit of tweaking though, but it saves you from scouring pouet. Oh and you have to unarchive everything. Hmmm... maybe I should do all that.

OK. I will explore your offering for limitations. You may explore my offering for the same, or save yourself the effort, as you wish. An HDF was specifically requested. I could not supply, "Kind of" upsets you. You gave him a link to zip of a very nice CD collection. I have no idea if is bootable, but zips are generally not. HDFs generally are but need not be, as are true ISOs. Getting an autobooting HD partition setup with a suitable filesystem containing the data from the ISO in it is no easy matter, but it will autoboot afterwards. Means acquiring hardware they can pick up for maybe a dollar (a real CD-ROM that self starts) and magazine coverdisks are quite common. They are not ideal because you are stuck with all their flaws, and can't really change anything in that partition afterwards.

You pointed him at data won't autoboot? Or am I wrong about that? I don't think so, I could be wrong. Neither will work if they are using a too small HD anyway, so both kind of sucky solutions from that angle.

The trouble with this thing called the Law is - it is observer dependent, not poster dependent, unless the poster chooses. Internet bollox. CBM are dead, I'm not in a rush to folow them either.

It's only not illegal where you are, not where every other observer is.

This was released just before Christmas, I haven't seen it myself but if you're emulating I expect it's easy enough to set up.

There is also a comprehensive whdload pack, it's massive and you'll need to start each demo individually (its on the eab ftp server)

Akiras could work fine too, so if either does what the OP wants, great. It's a learning curve to change HD to get the data to fit what you can do download, and slotting the DL in some form onto the hard drive. That's the first step to climb. If you can't do that doesn't matter what you download. Emulators are different to real hardware, which is usually more to learn than emulated Amiga.

You kind of have to trust things to install themselves if you won't learn how to do it for yourself. Takes a little effort to learn the tools for makig things.

Yes Pat; this is an .ISO file for the "CD32" release of "Press Play On Pad" by Cobe.

thx, i've tried cd32 demo collection but i can't get past demo 3.
at some point the text repeats and can't skip it to next demo.
endless loop. no key on keyboard works, no mouse key either.

Hold "Play" button on CD32 joypad while the disc is booting and you'll get into the menu were you can chose what demo you want to see.
Otherwise CD plays random demo. And not all demos have an end or a way to quit them other than reset the Amiga.

this thingamajig is way too complicated for me. i still have no clue what play button is...

I understand, I find winuae gui to be a little odd too.
I think that when you select CD32 in quickstart it doesn't change joystick to CD32 pad by default. You should go to game ports and below port 2, beside No autofire, change Default to CD32 pad. Play button will be on Multiplay(*) on num keyboard. You can remap it by selecting custom instead Keyboard Layout A/B...
