AGA EOTB 1 & 2 help needed.

I have found the enhanced version but have no idea what to do with the bunch of files I got from the downloads.

http://eob.wikispaces.com/EOB1+AGA+GAME
http://eob.wikispaces.com/EOB2+AGA+GAME

Did not know they existed until this morning.

You put the files in a folder on your HD and start it

Is it possible the AGA version still needs the libraries: westwoodtool.library, lowlevel.library and diskfont.library?

Indeed it is. You need (at least) westwoodtool.library in libs to run the game.

Yup, have those librarys.

Just to start I am doing this under emulation.

More details of what is happening.
I will not discuss all the files just the two I assume should load the game.

I these icons have spanners/wrenches on them.

One is called - Eye of the Beholder - AGA
The other - Eye of the Beholder - AGA - WHD

If I try to use the first one I get this error -
eob: File not excutable
eob: Failed return code 10

Seems pretty obvious this one.

If I try the other one I get error -
Sorry your hardware does'nt support
the MMU related features of WHDLoad

Also seems pretty obvious but I run loads of other games via WHDload OK.

Could somebody download these files and take a look at them at all.

I did and it worked after copying the library. The 'EyeOfTheBeholder-AGA' icon is a script that starts 'eob' in the 'data-vga' folder. Might be worth a try if that works directly.

Edit:
Change the tooltypes of the 'EyeOfTheBeholder-AGA-WHD' icon and delete the 'mmu' line. That should also work.

When I look in that data-vga folder I see loads of files, after moving everything to the hard drive and look in that folder via
Dopus I see loads of files, but if I click it, a window opens and shows no files, so did not do the eob direct thing.

Next I changed the tooltype of the 'EyeOfTheBeholder-AGA' Icon, I removed the 'mmu' part.

I then clicked it to start and now I get this error -

Please Insert
ZOOLTUNL.COL_Cre????? 26.07.20
In any drive

OK, spent the evening on this and have gotten no where.

Then I found this - http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=38913

After reading this I have given up as it seems bugged, does not like Scalos (which I run) and has not been up dated since 2006.

Oh, well I have some maps so its onward with the ordinary versions, never did finish these two games back then.

If I find some time tomorrow, I'll try to create a bootable HDF file with both games. No promises, but I guess some other people would be interested as well.

Seeing this thread has inspired me to have a look at these, now I have a question. How do I enable the Automapping feature?

I think I read somewhere, you press the tab key and type in CFOU.

Hey, that sounds good, thanks

Problem I have is that I use Scalos and I have read
that the game crashes somewhere at the end.

I will have to setup a basic workbench hard drive if that is right.

Thanks mate, actually you just press TAB to access the map. Maybe "CFOU" is for cheats?

Yes, I think if you type CFOU it shows the whole map regardless of what
you have explored. I am a bit not sure because I have not played the AGA
version yet.

I advise you to play this AGA version. I had no problem setting it up and running on Winuae for EOB1, and the automapping feature is awesome.

Be nice to know how you set it up ? Instead of letting me know how good it, because it is a no go for me here.

Are you running Scalos WB ?

Check the zone for a HDF with EOB 1

Just use the 1200 quickstart with 4 MB RAM and add the HDF. Start the emulation and the game will start. I'll create a HDF for EOB 2 now.

Edit: EOB 2 HDF in the zone.

EOB1 Report.......

Sorry, it does not work

During the loading I see not a lot of difference in the graphics to the original

During the character creation screen there is text way out of line
Created 4 characters

Selected play game, in dungeon at starting point, CRASH!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
OK, EOTB2 Report.....

Sorry does not work

Same with the graphics

No text all over the place

Created 4 characters

Selected play game.....

In first area, wolf appears, CRASH!

I think we can assume they do not work with E-UAE.

I did try a basic Amiga 1200 setup within E-UAE and they just started to load then crashed right from the off.

Oh well, many many thanks for what you did, maybe the Winuae people will get something
from them.

Back to the originals and my paper maps, least I can have them on screen at the same time while playing in a window.
