Commodore CD 1200 Trackball for CDTV help needed

Hi all
I have just purchased a Commodore CDTV and with it came a CD Trackball controller now it works fine plugged in with its cable but I cant seem to get it to work on batteries.
Is there something I am doing wrong or is it a common issue that can be fixed.
Many thanks in advance.

take your mobile and use the camera, press some keys on trackball and view on camera if infrared goes on

Hi
Yes the normal controller works fine so the Ir is working on the cdtv I have tried the camera trick and there is nothing coming from the Ir of the rollerball controller.

I dont know the ins of that controller because they so rare so i would open her up and post some picture of the controller board so the experts can point out if any capps need replacing.
I am also assuming you have checked the battery area for corrosion.

I have tried the power button from day one so it's not that I have forgot to turn it on.
