Ambient Sounds

Who here just can't handle much that's heavy/dramatic now, just mostly want Ambient music or sounds? I have always loved Ambient since the days of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis..etc... but you get the gist

This kind of opens a lot of music in my mind, artists like the following:

Art of Noise
Jean Michael Jarre
Enya
Isao Tomita

There are plenty of others too and if you really enjoy Ambient, what about Jazz ?

I used to be a hardcore metalhead. Now I primarily listen to synthwave and chillout.

I can still handle it, I just don't fixate on it anymore. Today I was watching an episode of Aggretsuko and when the heavy metal started to play, I felt the good old adrenaline pumping again

Once a Punk always a Punk I guess. Been this way since it all started in the mid 70's, I guess I'll be buried like it.
Big difference is, I used to have a massive mohican, nowadays I just have a massive nohican!
Apart from listening to (lots) of tracker mods, my music preferences are still largely bands and music from the same era of the 70's and 80's. I do listen to more hard metal these days too though.

One of my favorite song from the French Punk movement from the 80's 90's period. Lyrics are deliciously outrageous, "once I was a know-it-all student moaning about the news, now I am punk, beyond the anarchy psychedelic phase, so much fun I am having!"

You seem to enjoy listening to "French touch" on and on. Well, should that be the case, I would suggest giving a try to Vitalic, especially the reissue of Ok Cowboy (collector's edition) featuring a great remix of Daft Punk Technologic on the bonus disc. Also, for something a bit quieter, French trumpet player Eric Truffaz made some pretty amazing stuff with his quartet, check the album he released in 1999, Bending New Corners (Blue Note) :

There's also this accursed artist from the electro scene, Lebanese born Ibrahim Maalouf, who probably deserves a mention.

A very talented duet for that cover of For Free (a Joni Mitchell song), performed in 1989 :

Ah jazz, where to start ? I decided to go and tempt you with... Blossom Dearie - Give Him the Ooh-la-la (1958), this song combines like no other an acidulous voice, sense of humour (Waterloo-la-la) and chamber jazz with seasoned players. Miss Dearie has made quite a few good albums on Verve during the late 50's & early 60's, I would definitely recommend a listen of some of her output.

Good song, very catchy. OK, now what about some piano playing in solo ? If there's one French Jazz pianist to listen to besides late Michel Legrand, it's this late little guy from the Vaucluse district.

Hmm, it's ok but not quite my cup of tea, I like some Piano music but most doesn't seem to catch my ear.

However this organ Piece I've always liked:

Don Dorsey, Bachbusters, Toccata & Fugue In D Minor, BWV 565 Toccata
