My first computer, when I was 15, was a VIC 20. Then I got a C64 with a floppy. On it I played Pirates! until I vomited. I was always more interested in role-playing games and simulations and so I played Pool of Radiance and Patrician.

My cousins had an A500 and we played Ports of Call and stuff on it besides the above games.

I was the same with my dads Amstrad PCW 9512, he always told me games weren’t possible and i believed him as all i saw was locoscript screens, didn’t compute to my young mind graphics were possible. Now years later i find out it had quite a few dedicated games for it!

Now that you mentioned it, I remember games on Ti-92 and Ti-84 calculators.

It was a programming course at school. We had those sharps and games like Bruce Lee, Motos, Saboteur, Jet Pac, Knight Lore, Pyjamarama, Tomahawk, International Karate, Psst, Flappy, Motty, Wooky, Nakamoto and some more. Not much, but enough to be delighted

The first videogame I saw in my life was a game called 'cyclons' and was
running on my grandfathers commodore 64 in 1984.
He was the first pioneer in the family with a computer.
The game looked like this:


In those days a home computer was seriously expensive for 'normal'
family life in west europe. If you preferred not to go on holiday and have a c64 instead it was an option. My parents didn't care for computer stuff.
They took us on camping holidays in France which was far out the best afterwards seen.

'Cyclons' on C64 amazed me, back then, it seemed like magic to me, you could move that little ship with a plastic 'stick'. In fact 'Cyclons' was not a game at all. Just moving around on a single screen and every time you shot an enemy, points were added. It took some time for me to work out as a 7 year old, the game had in fact no goal at all, except for getting more points.
Amiga was still outside for me waiting for many years later.

I remember the first real game I played was 'moon buggy' in a small arcade room near a restaurant on a german camping. They had 3 or 4 games. Costing me 1 german mark each play... And I sucked. Most of the time I watched older guys play it much better ....

My grandfather is 97 years old now and at an blessed age where he forgot for some time now there was a time he could use machines and computers. But I am very thankful he gave me that chance when I was little. He still likes to watch movies when he is not too tired though.

Mine "could" have been Defenda on the ZX specrum 48k (rubber key one). Either that or something very similar to it as I can't remember the name of the game.
My dad was playing it and it got me hooked from there. Never really bothered with computers before then as the only other computers were at school. Big bulky BBC Micros that our school had about three of for the entire school. They were on trolleys and only had either a database, word processing and a vector draw program.

The games I remember playing the most around that time on the speccy "The family Computer" (ha it was mine really), was Super Stunt Car Racer. Could only ever get to the third level. :-/

my 3 first games were 3D fight, Rally II from Loriciels on my Amstrad CPC early 1986.

My first computer game was "Meteor Mission II" on the Video Genie System (a TRS-80 clone with a graphics resolution of 128 x 48 monochrome pixels).

I also enjoyed the Scott Adams Adventure series on this machine. Nowadays, almost nobody cares about text adventures.

I neither had a VIC-20 nor C-64, instead I switched to a Commodore Amiga 500 machine with F/A 18 Interceptor as my first Amiga game.

What a difference - the graphics really blew me away. The only thing I missed on the Amiga 500 was a real textmode - printing text on the screen was much slower, at least when using the system routines.

The 1st computer game I have ever played was Forbidden Forest on friend's C64. I was impressed with the sound on this computer.
Otherwise I doubted between C64 or CPC64. A few weeks later the Quasimodo was the 1st game I started on mine C64.

My first game was "Bolo" for the Atari ST, a game like arkanoid on Amiga. My parents got an Mega ST for their paper work for a politican party. Bolo was labeled as "mouse training". Guess who trained the most time using the mouse?
