Not Amiga OS but AROS runs on several Mac models. (Seen it running on mac mini g4)

Edit: man, why do I always mix those two up. I meant MorpOS

You are probably seeing MorphOS ... http://morphos.de and it is free to download but if you want to use it for longer than 30 minutes at a time there is a license fee

@xan11 Well, there is a compatibility list on the MorphOS page
http://www.morphos.de/hardware
And as you can see, its a limited amount of Macs that can run it properly.

I was thinking of morph os on my emac. What would be the advantages be over the osx/os9 with its current software selection on it?

@lost_loven Advantages? Depends on what youre after.. morpOS should run all system friendly 68k Amiga OS apps and of course a whole bunch of ppc apps.
But stuff like Photoshop dont have a very good alternative in Amigaland. Not sure how new browsers you can run on mac os on an eMac either...
It will probably run nice and fast but how useful it will be to you depends on what you wanna do, right?

good points and apps are looking at really what its more or less for. Maybe I will keep things as is and just enjoy the Emac's offerings of old school games for what it is. Apps are cool but at the end of the day I like old school gaming.

Main point is that if you like how AmigaOS works, MorphOS works like that, but faster and prettier on newer hardware than classic Amiga. MorphOS has the same directory structure, is binary compatible, etc. It's a next generation _amiga_.

I guess OSX (eve PPC) has more modern software, but MorphOS can be faster with them too. For example videos play much better (with less CPU usage) on MorphOS than on OSX. And overally MorphOS is much more snappier.

Until they don't try to use Amiga's custom chips, which aren't available on Macs of course, yes. Most apps, utils, commands, libraries etc system friendly stuff works as they are, but games usually try to hit custom hw, so they are less that will work. But the latest games which work on RTG and AHI on Amiga do also work on MorphOS.. and games that run on Workbench windows etc should work too.
