Problem formatting upper half of CF card

Hey guys,

I'm having a doozy of a problem with my CF setup. I cannot format disk partitions on the upper half of the drive. Here is my setup: CDTV running WB1.3 (with 8MB fast ram and 2MB chip ram), AmiTrix CDTV-SCSI Card, ACARD SCSI-IDE, 2GB SanDisk CF Card.

I can make as many small partitions on the first 1GB of the drive as I want, but as soon as a partition goes above 1GB the format command returns Error 32. I can also format the entire card successfully as one partition.

I've tried using the shell, intuition and HDInsttools to format (how I found error code 32...), I've tried quick formats as well as full formats. I've low-level formatted the drive. I've erased and replace the RDB. I've made sure I'm using the latest version of FFS possible. I've tried two separate CF cards, so its not the cards.

It's obviously nothing to do with the number of partitions, or anything in the startup or mountlist, just something about the the upper 1GB. Is it a driver thing, a CDTV thing, and ACARD thing?????

Anyone have any idea?

CDTV SCSI driver is based on 6.x A590 driver = 1G limit. Version based on 7.0 was never released.

Direct SCSI filesystem is only working workaround, PFS3 or old SFS but both need at least KS 2.x, SFS also requires 68020 or newer.

Thanks Toni. Somehow I thought it was something like that. Now if I could only get my ROM burner working I could escape 1.3 hell and move ahead!

btw, I guess some kind of direct scsi wrapper is possible but it is usual boring job
