Well if they had made Day of the tentacle available for the Amiga that would've been the best adventure game to bring. I have no idea how many times I've played through that game, but it's to a point where I know most of the dialog by heart which gets you through the game.

the choice is straightforward:
Bermuda Triangle Adventure ! game was about being stuck on an island, kinda Robinson Crusoe plot, having to figure out plenty of puzzles & walking around and finding stuff to get off the island never succeeded in completing it, despite having advanced far into it. (got stuck with that indian guy sitting like a statue on a wooden log, impossible to talk to him or kick his ass, but I'm sure I needed something to make him talk, Viagra pills or so ) other ones: Lucasfilm stuff like Zack McKracken & Maniac Mansion, any chessgame, esp hard ones! The Faerytale Adventure Elite some C or 68k assembly compiler Racter those "Stag" demo series |

hmmm...
Pirates, Settlers, Civilization, Populous, Elite etc... OK. Yet, the 1st game I'd think of , playable over and over on a desert island would be... LOGICAL I've played all these "infinite universes" games in the old days, and , frankly, it took me less than 5 years to be fed up with them although I liked them a lot. -> Pirates & Elite: there is a moment when you can FEEL that your character heavily depends on a byte or longword variable, and it becomes really a hassle to spend hours on some boring mission (there WERE boring moments, especially in Elite), when you KNOW that a good $FFFF poke in the right place would do the trick automagically. So I'd keep the "exploration side" for REAL exploration of the island, and the computer for "computer-like" game... And Logical was a really EXCELLENT game!!! I liked DEFLEKTOR also in the ooolder days, but it had comparatively a more linear gaming, as the levels were fixed, whereas in Logical, the colour balls come randomly. Sorry for the long babble |

Nah, this is an old thread that new members (like yourself) like to add too. So it resurfaces every now and again.

Pirates as i'd be interested to see if i could reach the ultimate score and rank(Bartender is about as good as i got). Plus i might find the right treasure map and dig up a hoard to take back home after the 5 year exile.

I originally chose Vampire's Empire (and CygnusEd, although not a game), but when I chose that, I'd not yet seen the Ray Poker series of games from Finland. I'd probably have to go with the 200mk version, for sure.

Settlers or Frontier for me, not sure which Probably Settlers as a first choice - random map gen and all that gubbins
Plus if a nice lady washed up on the island, I'd be ok cos we'd be able to play split screen Maybe I've got my priorities wrong there |

Desert Island Disks
For some inexplicable reason, you are forced to go and live on a desert island, with just an Amiga for company (the computer I mean, don't go getting any ideas). You are allowed to take eight games with you, and you are then stuck with these games forever. What games would you choose, and why?
Here are my choices: 1. Sensible World Of Soccer 96/97 This is obvious, I guess. With so many different leagues and competitions to take part in and a ridiculous number of teams to play as, I could play for years and years and still not get bored of it. 2. Cannon Fodder It may be a bit unusual to take a game that's level-based and finishable, but the thing with Cannon Fodder is that it's so well-designed that I would constantly replay it, trying new ways of completing missions, seeing how far I can get without losing a soldier and so on. 3. Slam Tilt Got to have a pinball game, and this is simply the best. All four tables are brilliantly put-together with loads of features, and there's always the challenge of beating your highest score. 4. Deluxe Galaga A classic blaster. Another one that's so simple to pick up, but somehow it always manages to hold my interest and it never gets dull. It could take a long time to find all those little secrets the game holds, and it has a perfect difficulty curve. 5. Tetris Pro For me, a Tetris game would be compulsory. And for me, this is the best version. It's a bit different with power-ups that add to the game, and, of course, you build pictures when you complete lines, giving you something to aim for other than just beating your best score. 6. Championship Manager '93 This game can eat up hours and hours without me realising. With each new season there's always something to aim for and two games are never the same, meaning that, as far as I'm concerned, this has the longest lifespan of all the games here. 7. Sim City Because I could never get bored of building a city and watching Godzilla stomp all over it. 8. Syndicate This game is sheer genius. How could aiming for world domination ever get dull? Teriffic fun with a lot of depth to it. And gratuitously violent as well, which is always a good thing. This little lot would while away the long evenings stuck on a desert island that's for sure. |
