arrrgh dog damnit! floop[y disk drive

so pissed off. everything on my a500 is going wrong.

new problems are, I had a new replacement floppy disk drive cause the one I had just now had failed, well, it didn't fail but it did 50/50 of the time. put this new one in and nothing at all

Also, let's be honest, amiga plastic is the worst quality, I snapped the drive holder sticky up bit way too easily. anyway any ideas? it's a chin one forgot the name should work

lol Okay instead of me moaning. And I do apologise because I have seemed like I'm a moany little kid who just keeps asking questions over and over and doesn't give anything back lol, well i'm going to give something back now.

advice!
When putting a floppydrive back in an A500, don't screw in the plastic-holder one first! Do the others first (the one's where you screw in from the back. THEN do the plastic-holder screw will save you a nasty broken heart as you hear the Snap!! sound.

Are you saying it's not an exact replacement for the original drive?

A Chinon FB-354 is the right type - an exact replacement for the original drive, assuming the original drive was one of those too, of course.

When you say 'nothing at all', doesn't the drive spin up and the drive activity led illuminate when you insert a floppy disk?

I will check to see what drive i pulled out tomorow, (really tired now and i always take the miggy up to the loft because that's where my workbench and soldering realm is )
but yeah, no clucking or whirling sounds, but the orange 'drive' light just stays lit when I turn the amiga on.

The ribbon cable to the floppy disk drive is plugged in the wrong way round, or else it is engaged with only one row of pins on the motherboard.

Check the alignment of the floppy drive ribbon cable.

Not really, but it might be bad over many years. A brand new Amiga's plastic is hard and good.

Try the disk in another computer.

Get a disk that works in another computer and try that one in yours.
