Also I was in no way diminishing or criticizing Retroplay's work, I don't know where you would get such an idea. All I was criticizing is CLRMame Pro, which I still stand by my belief that it's an absolutely dreadful program to use.

Thanks for that video! I see in your example you scan your collection for missing files, but would it also work for updated/changed files? This is always my main concern, not having the latest versions of installs. I am guessing it would report that too.

How else do you look after / manage sets without it; especially for MAME???

Yes, it takes a little to master but once you know how it operates.

...and it's so powerful you can use for all emulator, just need .DATs. Plus you can create .DATs from your original collection to share with others.
how about romcenter?

it is super intuitive and i clearly prefer it over clrmamepro, which truely gives me endless nightmares

ftp is great when you are looking for individual files, but is there a chance to download the packages in a more compact way (in the future), as well?

RomCenter is ok but it's no ClrMAMEPro.

I know you guys keep saying it's hard to use but read through / look at a few tutorials then after using a few times it's actually not so difficult

Yes, you just add the updated dat in the profiler like I did in the video, Clrmame will ask if you want to update the existing WHDLoad dat, after that you just do a scan and rebuild the new files.
Nothing to it.

RomCenter, I haven't used that in ages (15+ years at least) and I don't think it supports XML dat files.

Romulus might also be worth a look, I haven't used it myself but give it a try, just backup your files first just in case.

Cool I guess that works. I can help out making Amiga update packs if needs be.

The root of the Commodore_Amiga/Retroplay folder has all of the files in one big zip file, separated by collection. Is that what you mean? I am assuming here that every time Retroplay updates the folders, he also updates the big zipfiles (hence the dates they have)

weird - looking at /Commodore_Amiga/Retroplay/ will give me some zipped dats, and of course Commodore_Amiga_-_WHDLoad_-_Games with subfolders #-z including countless .lha's. no single big zip - or perhaps i am going blind already?

i am using firefox, no special ftp tool

Nope, IT IS I who is blind :P Haha I thought the size I was reading was in a different measure. You're right!

Then again we arrive at your issue: not using a real FTP client. Use one (Filezilla) and you can just queue the folders to download them all in one go.

Use a real FTP client OR try my tool in the first post. I use it now and it works great as far as I've seen. It will download the games/demos for the categories you select (CD32 etc). The next time it runs, it will only download new files since you last ran it, and remember your setting.

I would love to hear someone else experiences with it as it has 30 downloads but no comments =)

I will probably also add a "lazy" .HDF file where its extracted with all games except non-english + NTSC

@akira: uff, sanity check still ok on my side

it is a long time i have not used an ftp client (probably when still on windows). will this also affect the download speed in comparison to firefox?

to be honest, last time i got this package as one big file from a different source because of these reasons.

@turran: i do not have the package yet, but thanks a lot to you and all the people involved, i really appreciate your work.

I totally missed that. So you don't need the DATs+CLRMame then? Just that tool?

Thanks so much Turran!

Correct. Run it and set any options you may want (Skip no english titles etc). It will download the full package to a dated dir (today).
The next time you run it in the future, it will remember your settings. If you just click "Go" again, it will create a new dated dir with only the updated games/demos since the last time you ran it.

Nah as I said I use the packages on my real Amiga and this is why I asked for packages containing progressive updates, so people like you and me can only apply updates when needs be.

No emulation for me. I use it on real amigas.

However, I extract the downloaded games on emulation using a .WHD hard disk file with PFS3AIO to ensure compatibility, but thats just for the speed of it.
