It is not yet September 2018
More seriously: The Whdload part can only be updated by people from WHDLOAD, so right now I can't help you with that. Regarding Eat the Whistle I'll investigate (try different configurations of WinUAE) that a bit later this week. Checking the back cover, you seem to be right since it states: - Any Amiga with 68020 or better - Kickstart 2.0 or better I have the hunch that at the time is was listed as AGA because of the 68020 requirement (since it was the A1200 CPU). Not sure what will be the best solution regarding that. At least, I'll add a note regarding the requirements. Since you didn't get a reply sooner, (belated) thank you for the report and the bump |

Regarding Eat the whistle, I have done a bit of testing.
I have used the HD installable disks found on the EAB server: Eat the Whistle - France 98 v1.0 (1998-10-05)(Epic Marketing)(AGA)(Disk 1 of 4)[h HF][HD] I have also grabbed the CD version, I'll test that later. On disk 1, you can find HF-ETW.nfo (cracker/supplier info) which states AGA 4 Meg. I tested the following:
My guess (some EAB members with better technical knowledge might have a better idea) is that the game:
The AGA chipset does not seem to be needed. But at the time I guess the 68020 + 4 MB requirements were available mostly on AGA machines (maybe some A3000 could have the required components?). Edit: Hmmmm, reading the tripod page you linked to, I see it might be a bit more complicated than that, with the earlier versions having lower requirements. I'll need to test the CD version then. I hope it is an early version, because otherwise I don't know where to find an early version that could work with 1 MB of chip RAM. Last edited by lilalurl; 12 August 2018 at 20:45. |

I admire the dedication to come back 1 year later
There's sort of 3 platforms that cover all but a "handful" games: OCS 1MB, Stock A1200, Accelerated AGA (incl just fastmem cards). And pure CDTV/CD32 games, of course. This would be a better description than just (Chipset) I think, also for demos. The remaining ones would be released for not very many machines and so not upset many if they were as wrong as just writing (Chipset). |

The CD version from the EAB FTP seems to have the same limitations as the disk version I tested earlier.
68000 and 68010 give Software Failures. 68020 with only 1Mb Chip and 1Mb Fast gives Recoverable Alerts ending in Software Failure. So both are probably later revisions with higher requirements. Anyone know where to find earlier revisions? |
