I presume it's a set config but just in case, have you altered the drive loading speed. Some protections are picky about the drive loading speed..

I would revert to KS 1.2 as that game came out before 1.3 and possibly to OCS chip set. When it's an IPF, the floppy speed is forced to normal speed.

@Mclane
WinUAE Floppy Drive Emulation Speed was on 100% (compatible)! Hmm, maybe it depends on CAPSImg.dll version! (was tested on 5.1 version... is that latest version?) @demoniac https://amiga.abime.net/games/list/?...estiny&x=0&y=0 above link says OCS, ECS EDIT: Tested with .adf version... Altered Destiny v1.00 (1991)(Accolade)(Disk 1 of 6)[cr SR].adf and it happens the same as with the .ipf version!? (is that the emu problem or something else is missing?) Just wait longer? "Insert disk 2" screen shows up w/ WinUAE 5.1.0 most compatible+common quickstart A500 setup for "Altered Destiny v1.00 (1991)(Accolade)(Disk 1 of 6)[cr SR].adf" but I have to enable warp mode to not get bored. Don't know if that's a bug. (Winuae 4.4.0 doesn't seem faster though for example)

No problem!
i guess it must be something else as .adf and .ipf behaves the same. @paraj Maybe it should be checked on a real Amiga too! Last edited by amilo3438; 03 January 2024 at 21:53. |

Kickstart 1.3 came out in 1988 and this game is from 1991, so that's highly unlikely. When this game was released, Kickstart 2.0/2.05 was already a thing. For the record, the game is HD-installable, the installer is on the first disk. I'm installing it onto a WB 1.3 HDD system right now from the IPF files. |

Ok, I retested the .ipf file in WinUAE 5110b0 and Denise 2.2.1 and it took approx. 01:25 min from "Now loading" messages until the "Change Disk" screen appears!
Now I'm not sure if that's a problem or not! (may needs testing on a real Amiga) |

I think (that part at least) is just very badly coded. While loading it has more than 10000 calls to dos.library/Read with length=2... And then there's overhead of being written in C. I'd be very surprised if it's noticeably faster on real HW. Don't have any A500/A600 to check myself though.

in WinUAE, 512+512, ks1.3, OCS it working. It require disk 2 in df0:, but the requester should be appear that ask you to change disk.

For the record, I've installed the game onto an emulated HDD using the provided installer, and it works flawlessly. It takes a looooong time for the game to load, even from HDD; maybe running from floppies is similarly affected (but I haven't tried).

This game definitely worked on kickstart 1.3 because I had the original version in the 90s and I had kick 1.3 in my A500 (rev. 6A). The only thing I have left from this game is the box.
