I personally don't see the need to test each individula unit, unless there is a chance of a high failure rate in the manufacturing which I very much doubt. Does Jens not run each unit through tests?

I'm glad they test everything prior to despatch. Its a shame that people wont have these under their tree's in time but I think there is also another need for testing. Amigakit might well pick up on a fault thats already been missed, so rather than a mass recall of items already shipped to customers, its better this is all tested now. Steve. |

Individual Computers tests the units, but we have strict Quality Control policy as well.
If we send out a card that is not working and it is returned by the customer, the margin is so small on these cards that we make a loss, plus our customer will be unhappy. I know this is something we don't want to chance. |

I think the ACA630 is a must have for anybody who owns a A600 and I fully expect you to own by the middle of January as once people start to give reviews of the card you won't be able to stop yourself... Quote:
Let's face it we have been waiting 17 years for these cards so another week won't kill us! Last edited by TCD; 21 December 2010 at 15:43. Reason: Back to back posts merged. Use multi-quote. |

The ACA630 are reaching end users in Germany. Some nice pictures of the end product.
http://www.a1k.org/forum/attachment....8&d=1292929999 Let's hope Amigakit will get it soon too so they can ship both my ACA1230 and ACA630. |

I hope I will be able to receive my ACA630 for the holidays while I'm back with the family. It'd be so, so cool to spend some time with my sister on some of the old games we used to play back when the Amiga was our only computer, courtesy of WHDLoad and the accelerator. |

I have 8 mails from Amigakit with orders updates... I don't remember to have bought to much... If you like the smilie and you can catch it you only have to copy and paste it... although this seem unpasted...

It wasn't a matter of cutting time to get them to the end users quicker, just currious to know the reason. I have never heard of such checks taking place by a dealer before. Quote:

Yes. After two (working-) days in a row where the FedEx courier either did not show up, or called because he was stuck in traffic, he finally made the trip here. This afternoon, a large parcel containing ACA630 (both 25 and 30MHz versions) left for AmigaKit with service type "international priority".
Traffic situation in Germany is still not really good: Trains are late, streets are icy in higher elevations and the lower elevations will have to fight with freezing rain in the coming days. As Matthew told me on the phone, it's similar in England. Jens Every unit is tested and only gets a "QC pass" sticker if memory, CPU and MMU (on the 630 and 56MHz 1200 cards) is OK. In a second step, the serial number is applied and a photograph of the card with serial number and CPU is going to our (digital) archives. Jens Last edited by TCD; 21 December 2010 at 21:35.
