I work together with the distribution maintainer of Aeros so it could be part of Aeros for ARM for 68k emulation. In a way yes. But I do not know how fast 68k emulation is on Raspberry.

It's slow. Painfully slow. There is no JIT for 68k emulation on ARM (not yet at least). Raspberry Pi has the CPU grunt of a Pentium 2 300MHz. UAE is compiled from C. It'll likely be not much faster than a stock Amiga 500 at best, too slow for emulated AROS Vision.

Best to stick with UAE4all on Pi and use a genuine Kickstart 1.3, if you want good enough performance for say the subset of Amiga 500 games which work. Or use E-UAE for more compatibility, Workbench 3.1 etc., but expect slowdowns in games and so forth. For playing AMOS games on Pi the former looks the best option, particularly when they've gone through the AMOS Pro Compiler. (XAMOS is limited, and slow on Pi thanks to the SDL rendering.)

For AROS on Pi it's best to use the Linux hosted, that's native ARM.

Did anyone mention AMOSteroids? Pretty basic game, and I think the only music you get is on the title screen.

My own Commercial Amos Game favorite:
Imperator: http://hol.abime.net/2618

released in 1998.

Although it could be better, it is surprisingly good, and i have several times went back to the game to play it through again.

There is nothing graphics heavy in this game, and hence slowness of Amos doesnt show. This is also one of the few Amiga only strategy games we have 1998 and after anymore.

If you havent played it, and you like strategy, then this should be quite satisfying bought.

You first play in big map moving your troops around, building stuff, buying units, Slightly Defender of The Crown way (but much more complex and better balanced plus more strategic) and when battles come you get these one screen battles in turn based battle, similar to Iron Lords (supposedly) final battle.

In addition there are things like you are trying to become the emperor of rome and hence you can bribe senators, appeal to Queen of Egypt etc.

Although I personally dont recognise the game, I did get impression that this might be based upon some earlier bigger commercial title.

It is surprisingly complex for an Amiga only strategy title of 1998 and beyond, although still, not even at an extra light Europa Universalis / Civilization level.

Poker Mania was written in AMOS Pro.

Does anyone have a copy of the 4-player Dogfight mentioned earlier? (my memory is telling me Dogfight II but could be wrong)

It's not listed on HOL, Lemon Amiga, Amiga Coding or PDGames. EDIT: Ok I thought I'd found it on Aminet but Dogfight Simulator looks like another game. In the game I'm referring to, the planes are viewed from overhead on a plain blue background. You can choose from a variety of planes including, I think, a small one that was really tough to hit (unless that was us hacking it - I remember making a plane that was 1 pixel wide!) Superb game, but it seems that it's been sadly lost.

Chris

Just want to say a HUGE thanks to Graham Humphrey who has very kindly ADF-ed all my Poker Mania disks (written in AMOS Pro and compiled using AMOS Compiler). They've all survived 20 years and are still readable would you believe! So I now have access to all my AMOS code, SFX and graphics. Going to take me a while to figure out all my own handiwork. I "think" I still have somewhere (according to my wife), an A4 pad with a breakdown of all the variables, flowcharts, etc. as at the moment, it's all a little overwhelming LOL.

I've not had a real Amiga for years and have been using WinUAE since 2006.

Incidently, our three games we released in the 90s were written in AmosPro. :-)

Walls is an Arkanoid-clone with some nifty extras.
Othello is a version of the classic board game.
Bombsquare is based on Minefield with a slower pace, music and a two player simultaneous mode.

You can find them here: http://www.virtualdimension.de/displ...tml/games.html
(or on this english page at the bottom: http://www.virtualdimension.de/displ...ssentials.html)

Enjoy! :-)

Worms add-on levels are just IFF pictures though, right? I had loads of fun making my own (including one in which the mines are indistinguishable from the background)
