Academy - Tau Ceti II - issue in WHDLoad version

Hello,

in the game Academy - Tau Ceti II (WHDLoad Version 1.1) I have the problem that I cannot enter keyboard commands. Only the mouse is working. I tried different input settings in WinUAE (Version 4.9.0) with no success.

The game seems to run (I see that the timer is running) but the keyboard inputs to give orders will be ignored.

Does anyone play the whdload version of the game and know a solution for this issue?

Problem described in above report also happens to me on my A1200/030 config with latest WHDLoad 18.7.

Hello Retroplay,

I went back to the floppy image of the game. I found and old thread here in the forum about the problems to run this game (https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...light=tau+ceti).

There was also mentioned to use a certain adf image - "Academy - Tau Ceti II (1988)(CRL)[h QTX][KS1.2].adf". I tried that with the following settings in WinUAE and it is working for me perfectly:

KS ROM v1.2 (A500,A1000,A2000) rev 33.180 (256k) [315093-01] / CPU 68000, 24bit, cycle exact / MMU: none / FPU: none / graphic chipset OCS / 512kb chip ram, slow ram: none / Floppy drive speed: 100% compatible

I think that is the best solution until WHDLoad version will be fixed in the future.

This seems to be a very picky game to load, in fact I couldn't get the official IPF #2943 to load with your settings, it has no copy protection but the IPF should deal with that if it had!

The QTX version does load though and the reason why is they have add21k in the S-S, a standard bootblock on the disk and they modified the academy exe file for whatever reason!

The official IPF #2943 has some unknown bootblock and the disk will not load with 1.2 ROM, OCS and 512kb chip in WinUAE. I created an ADF from the IPF and installed a standard bootblock and it loaded once but subsequent loads just fail? I then added add21k file to the S-S and it loads everytime, I even put the original bootblock back and it still loads but no idea what that bootblock does but add21k allows it to load!
