gklinger are u saying that digital joysticks dont work in analog ports cause i think you will find that they do.or at least they did when i tried years and years ago, though if any 1 knows for sure plz shed some light

something like this from gklinger
http://gtpunch.spaces.live.com/blog/...C2DB!123.entry

something from me to make your head scratch
http://www.allpinouts.org/index.php/PC_Gameport

it might be an idea to contact AmigaKit as they might have a converter lead something like this 1 below
or get a cheap sound card with port on back will be cheaper than a usb converter thingy

Yeah, that's exactly what I was saying. Analog and digital joysticks are quite different in the way they work and I've never heard of one working where the other was intended. Digital joysticks have potentiometers that indicate how far the joystick has been thrown in one direction or another whereas digital joysticks only indicate that the the joystick is being pushed in one direction or another or that it isn't. I suppose it's possible that a computer with a digital joystick interface would just read that the joystick had been thrown in a direction and disregard the additional data about distance. I've never heard of them being compatible though. (Does that make sense?)

Anyway, I'm with you in hoping that someone weighs in with more information.

check out my second link and scroll down abit, I`m faily sure there is a simpler way to do it

IIRC i had a BBC joystick once that was digital but worked fine in back of the BBC`s analog port, did`t have a PC at the time so did`t plug it in to 1 of them things

your almost right in saying they are diffrent in the way the work, analog use`s varable resistors to give a varing value where digital is on or off. in short you can make a digital joystick work in an analog port. think its something like up-5v, down-0v, left-5v, right-0v, dont use these values as just for illistration and if they are right its just a coincidence.

If you want to connect a Commodore joystick to your PC's USB port you'll need something like a Stelladaptor (which unfortunately aren't currently available). You could get something like the Competition Pro USB although I personally think they're rubbish.

guys the http://www.stelladaptor.com/ is back in stock but dont think they will last long
