Open-source remake of Dungeon Keeper

An absolute classic.

And maybe someone wants to do an Amiga port..?

i play that all the time, but i thought it only worked due to the required windows/dos .dll files that were still needed? or did they circumvent that? any port we got, id still be happy if we only got the 2d ability to play, i never really used 3d view mode even on a pc.

No idea, really. I learned about that remake only today. But on GitHub it reads:
Quote:
KeeperFX is a standalone game but requires a copy of the original game files as proof of ownership. These files can be automatically copied from your old CDs, or from a digital edition like the ones from EA or GOG.

Originally, KeeperFX started out as a decompilation project, where we took the original game executables and reversed them back into usable code. Currently the whole codebase of Dungeon Keeper is remade and all code has been rewritten.
Sounds like to me all it needs are the game files.

The new 1.0.0 doesn't use the DLL anymore:

The long awaited 1.0.0 has been released! This is the first full version that makes no more use of the original converted DLL.
Looks like there isn't a native Linux or Mac port yet though:

Currently only Windows is supported, but Linux and Mac users can use Wine.

nice, if thats accurate then its great news, weird then that its mentioned theres no linux native port yet, usually someone smashes that kind of thing out pretty quickly if source is available...... usually..... sometimes..

Also handy if such thing are maintained, i was pained to see that the github Paradroid is unsupported/doesnt work even on linux these days with only the rpg version working, eventually compiled it myself after a LOT of problems when trying to get it on my steam deck but it doesnt stretch/fit the screen.

Makes me wonder how many abandoned projects are out there that "could" be great had they been completed.
