Super Street Fighter 2 - wrong palette in final version!

I always wondered why Freestyle chose some strange colours in SSF2.
Now, I checked some reviews / previews and found out that the palette used in the final version must be faulty.

(Deejay´s stage looks different. But I´m sure they didn´t want a green floor.)

Do you think this is fixable?

Hmm, the screens from the mags seem to be kind of 'bleached', so maybe the original color was the same as in the actual screenshot.
To change the color someone needs to rip the graphics (or in the best case only the palette info) and change them. After the version needs to be put back on disc. Maybe someone here can help you with that viddi.

I don´t think so.
I´m sure this is a bug or something.

Here is another screenshot (Amiga Joker review):

It looks fine.

The final version´s neon green gfx must be wrong.
Or am I colourblind?

I'm not sure if you can compare printed and scanned screenshots with ones taken from WinUAE. If you look at the tower on the right it also has wrong colours. Oh and the stones in the ground
Maybe I'm just getting it wrong : Do you mean the whole palette is messed up or just some colors?

You´re right. It´s not the whole palette. Only some strange shades of *green*.

I would be happy to simply have a working version, as never saw this game in action... :I

Just try the WHDload version. It works perfectly. You have to be registered, though.

If you aren't registered I could upload the CD32 version to Magix FTP tonight

I think this is just an issue of the printing process.

I checked the "One Amiga" preview.
The colours are fine.

Don´t you think this neon colour is out of place?
I can´t believe it´s meant that way.

I checked various mags printed on different kinds of paper.
I can´t believe professional printing is THAT inaccurate.

So, you brilliant Amiga coders, the final question: Is it possible to "adjust" this ill-favoured colour?
I really hope so.

Thanks a lot for your posts.

Do you mean the colours above the mountains?
This is an animation that belongs to Cammy´s stage.

Looks like the "screenshots" aren't from the Amiga build.

Look at the leaves in the bushes in Deejays level, in the supposed screen you can make out the leaves quite well in the final game it's just black with green lines.

It's a bullshot not a screenshot. Maybe thats what they wanted to do be realised they didn't have the talent or the Amiga just wasn't capable of producing it, either way I'm 1000% sure that the image from the box/magazine is not produced by an Amiga.

I think its very possible that the printed version is inaccurate... I have some experience with proof printing (We have supplied some copiers to print houses for this purpose) and setting proof machines up to match the final print colour! Each and every print house tends to use a different colour profile and the difference between screen / proof and final print can be staggering at times! Often the goal of the proof machine is not to match the screen, but to match the print house!

Not quite sure why anyone would want to play Super Street Fighter 2 via WinUAE when you can play the arcade version via MAME.

I can sort of understand trying it on a real Amiga... but even then?!?

Thanks so far, guys.
Okay, even if it´s a printing issue I still don´t understand why they chose this colour. (Sorry for being so tenaciously )

K. I understand.

I'm more of a "which ever version gives the best experience" kinda guy which (when it comes to arcade conversions like Street Fighter) is usually the original arcade version.

I see and fully understand your point.
I´m a bit obstinate when it comes to Amiga games. I just can´t help it.

SSF2 AGA is very playable, though.

I agree, aside from the disk access I prefer amiga Final Fight to the arcade. Less baddies for a start!
