Samsung MultiSync 710N
I have recently managed to repair a Samsung MultiSync 710N monitor to use with my A600. (just had bad caps)
I tested the monitor and it works fine with a PC with 31Khz signal now but when I connect it to the amiga using Video to VGA adapter I get the message Not Optimum Mode floating acrossed the screen and no picture. Several sources have stated that Samsung MultiSync 710N does support 15Khz signal, but it needs a buffered adapter. I first started with an AmigaKit adapter which I found out after purchasing isn't a buffered one. And I have bought another one from RetroFun which stated that it is buffered but don't know if they are lying. Is there a physical way of knowing if its a buffered adapter in which case I'll be file a claim with ebay? As well does anyone have any experience with Samsung MultiSync 710N? Have poured money into my A600 project and had so much bad luck with this machine. I've repaired traces and replaced caps on this amiga and gone through alot but it's still stubborn as hell. Feel like jacking it all in the bin at times but hopefully one day it will be setup. |

I've seen somewhere it doesn't support combined Sync. Maybe you need a sync separator?

If you want to know whether adapter is buffered or not, just open it to see if it contain any IC. I use the HCT08N chip for the job in my adapters just like Commodore used in theirs.
Generaly buffered adapters are only needed for use with bigbox amigas (like 1000,2000,3000,4000). Regarding the MultiSync 710N have no idea if 15kHz compatible, as is not on my list. |

I think I've tried one and it didn't work. And I only use buffered adapters.

On the list at wikidot.com says for 710N that: Some units reportedly have 740N internals and cannot sync at 15 kHz.
So maybe your case. |

Thank you for your replies. I guess I've been unlucky and got a bad 710N with 740N innards.
I guess my options are the BenQ which is easier to get hold of here or wait for a Indivision ECS to appear. I'm leaning more to BenQ as I can use it for other systems. PS. Took addapter apart and there is an IC so can confirm that RetroFun adapter is buffered if anyone in future is questioning this. Last edited by MikeyG; 23 November 2017 at 08:23. Just picked one of these up. Has anyone successfully used one with a buffered vga adapter?

I got a cheap Samsung SyncMaster 710n too. It works perfect with MorphOS on a G4 Mac. But i only get a white screen with my a1200 plus commodore vga adapter. Any idea if a special cable is required? The 15 khz wiki says it should work....
