Mysterious A500 RAM expansion

Don't you just love it when you buy an Amiga, open it up and find something extra inside you didn't know was there?

Today I received an Amiga 500 I purchased off eBay. The seller stated it had an 'unknown' memory expansion installed. I expected it would be some generic half meg board but found something rather surprising inside.

It attaches to the Gary chip slot and in turn, Gary attaches to it and then has a cable connection to a normal looking expansion RAM board. The board has "Amiga V2000 2M RAM Extension" etched on it.

The Big Book of Amiga Hardware shows very little info on it and no images. I can't find any other info on the internet.

Booting into Workbench shows about 1.5MB of free memory which doesn't tie in with the "2M"! There do seem to be some empty chip slots on the board so it might not have the full 2MB installed. There are also two switches on the board which are unlabeled and I have not tried changing their positions yet.

Anyone know anything about this board?

Thanks for the info

Now if I could only find the manual. Workbench suggests the Amiga can see 1.5meg total but the number of chips installed suggests the board has 1.5meg alone. Time to play with the switches!
