James Pond 3 (CD32) WHDLoad and joypad

I wanted to play "James Pond 3" (CD32 version installed with WHDLoad) with CD32 joypad but it only works as two button joystick. In the install doc file there is a notice that joypad works when JOYPAD tooltype is used, but I checked the WHDLoad documentation and there is no JOYPAD tooltype.
How to play "JP3" with CD32 joypad?

The "joypad" tooltype is for JST. It seems a hybrid installer for JST and WHDLoad.

I noted your need for joypad on this game, and I'll update the whdload slave soon. I don't recommend to use the JST-specific slave

..and you've done it!

will give it a try now.

update: the game works well, great to have the CD32 controls back. However, saving the game doesn't seem to work. Once you beat the first boss you're given the option to save the game (takes quite a bit of work to get there). After choosing a save slot, the screen goes black and there's some HDD activity so I thought it'll be OK. I quit the game with the new button combo knowing that many WHDLoad games need this to save state back to HDD.
Next time starting the game the save is not there.

I checked and there's a new "jp3.sav" file in the data directory, it's 232 bytes but it's all zeroes.

Its best to make a case @ https://mantis.whdload.de/main_page.php so they can keep track of any issues like this ..
