somewhat off-topic: mass-import into gamebase

I hope I am allowed to ask a question that is a bit off topic?
I have a collection of NES roms, and screen shots with corresponding names, e.g. Action in New York (E).nes, Action in New York (E).png.

I ask here, because I guess you people must have thought about this.
What is the best way of importing all those games with screen shots into a gamebase database?
My current plan is to simply place the two lists in the gamebase table, and ignore facts like cracker, etc. That would at least give me a list of all the NES games, a start button to execute them, and screen shots of the games to look at. (I know there is a nes gamebase project but it has only 50 games, and it is not the best ones either.)

My off-topic question, that I hope that you might want to reply to is...
Is my plan good, or is there a better one (a tool for instance?)
I can quite easily realize my plan, as it doesn't demand much work (At this time, I can't manage a project that is as nicely and thoroughly carried out as Gamebase Amiga).

And, has this already been done? (maybe with a different front-end?)

I know, but I have to ask people who know the answer... :-)

Edit: Ok, I admit it, I am fishing for a comment from the MAGE team, on whether it will be possible to import other games than the Amiga games into it...

Have a look at LusSpace FE...

It's a universal front-end and not bad IMHO

I used LusSpace FE for my SNES DVD

Maybe I should have a look at that... getting the 3539 nes rom images with game screenshots into gamebase was no problem anyway :-)

A SNES DVD you say? That sounds like fun. Is it possible to get it somehow?

Yes, click the SNES DVD link in my post above.

As for getting a copy, I could burn you the final DVD and post it off

Firstly though, you should have a quick browse of the thread to see what it's all about... It's actually quite a long thread detailing implemention / feedback / getting around issues etc. so reading the following should give a good overview:

... http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=236227&postcount=1
... added the emulator ZSNES as well (after loads of headaches but got there in the end).
... added an autorun to the DVD and sarek2k did the graphics (thanks, looks awesome).

I'd love to help, but frankly, Belgarath does all the database editing stuff. Admittedly, I have provided tools to help him with that from time to time, but that was always from halfway detailed descriptions of what those tools should do. I'm also somewhat busy with my/our own projects these days, so I don't really have time for making custom tools/scripts for your purposes. I hope other comments here will help you.

DamienD: You got mail!
I almost solved the NES games import now, I distilled the 3500 roms into 950 games and imported that into Gamebase. Some 100 screenshots still have the wrong names... anybody got a tool for screenshots? They need to have the exactly the same file name as the nes roms. But I think I'll be able to solve that as well.
Edit: I finished it now, with 947 games, but I am still not sure that Gamebase is the best frontend to use.
