Scene Storm Compilation CD
Any of you lurkers here have an idea where this compilation CD could be found?
I've heard that it's probably one of the best scene related CD around... |

It was on an Amiga Format issue...
I'll get it in a couple of weeks, unless someone else has it. |

How about doing a big favour to all of us and make a bin/cue image of it and uploading it to BippyM's or KombatSanta's FTP-Sites?? |

Speaking of scene CD's, there is a DVD with the best PC demos which have just been released:
http://www.mindcandydvd.com/order This project is very cool, the dvd is made by scene people so please don't divx it If they sell enough of it they have promised another one with the best amiga demos. |

I`ve got volume one...
I bought it because they claimed it was made "in association with spaceballs"... How funny! We`ve never even spoken a word with these guys :-D |

We`re not americans, you know ;-) Hehe!
Just kidding! Anyway.. I remember we sent them a mail, just for fun, actually. No-one replyed, though.. hmm.. strange!? But I think it says a lot about Digital Candy promotion policy? |

I managed to pick my copy up for £3 (what a bargain!) from http://www.powerc.com . I don't know if they have any left but maybe its worth a try? |

heh,
for what it's worth, i was a regular user of Digital Candy BBS around the time they released the 'Scene Storm' CD, and I'm sure they asked _someone_ from Spaceballs before releasing it. I will agree, however, that they weren't particularly known for their association with Spaceballs (DCS, was it? They were Mono WHQ when we started the group.), So, yeah, it is a slight case of someone 'tacking on' a famous group's name to get a bit more publicity. seems weird in some ways, cos they were easily the biggest demo-scene-only BBS in the UK at the time. great CD, tho :P Please do not sign your messages. It's about 524Mb - I'll let Phiber download it from my FTP and then he can spread it onwards...

Got it!
Thanks, CodyJarrett Next, i will split the file into 20 megabyte .rar chunks and create an sfv-signature file for it before sending it onwards... Edit: Aeh.. and ofcourse the ftp's i'm trying to upload it to were offline.. well, you'll just have to wait a little bit longer then.. And on another note.. seems i'll have to re-do the filecheck thing again, since i found out that crc32 doesn't work well on files over 15 megabytes... why you ask? simple mathematics, crc32 does't have enough bits to cover the whole 20 megabyte file.. here's a snip from a .sfv FAQ: You see, 32 bits gives us 4,294,967,296 bit combinations, while simple 15meg file has of them: 5,287*10^3084 (thats in scientific notation, it means the number has 3084 digits) as you can see there are many different 15meg files and there is a possibility that our CRC32 will generate same code for two completly different files.. Just to be on the safe side, i've decided to search for a utility that does MD5 checksums for the files.. Last edited by Phiber; 20 May 2003 at 08:42. |
