Repainting - want as close to original colour/color as possible

Hi Folks.

I have an Amiga 500 and a 4000, they appear to be the same colour and i wish to paint my Raspberry pi Amiga 3000 case that i purchased some months back the proper original colour as it arrived bright white GAH!
(I'm not sure if the 3000 had the same colour as the 500 or 4000?)

Anyways, some googling found a suggestion that Kryton Colormaster Satin Almond was a very close match (In a spray paint) but i can't find it in Australia and don't fancy ordering a spray can from overseas.

Wonder if someone know a close equivalent (preferably available in Australia) either Spray can paint of model paint that replicates as close as possible the original Amiga "Greyish" colour.

Thanks

An A500 is beige, and an A4000 is white. The A3000 is also beige..

Hey - little light on the details as white and beige cover alot of ground ...

Beige it is, but maybe someone has had to touch up an Amiga before and could direct me to a colour code to purchase a close approximation in a spray can or kit model paint?

I don't have the actual colours for you unfortunately.

What I can tell you is that the AGA machines are indeed quite a clean, bright white, where the ECS machines were a brownish beige. So no, don't paint the 4k with the same paint as the ECS machines if you're trying to get the original colour.

They are certainly supposed to be white, or a very, very light grey. There is no yellow or pinkish hue as I would consider "creme" to have.

I was looking at some 3D printing files for Amiga 4000s recently and someone said that Krylon Fusion Dover White Satin spray paint is the closest match to the A4000. I haven't tried it yet, because it's quite hard to find in the UK, so just throwing it out there.

Bought some, doesn't match very closely I'm afraid, still looks too yellow.

Try white primer first. White over anything but white is going to change the base hue. This is common painter's trick. For example, "Ferrari Red" is made by using a bright yellow primer, followed by the primary red.

I was painting over a grey metal primer (very badly scuffed case - sanded it all down and re-painted it), it's possible that the grey wasn't helping, but the paint did have three coats...

Still think it's a little on the cream/yellow side, needs to have more of a grey tinge to it IMHO.

Why not grab the ram expansion port or similar, take it to a proper paint shop? They can analyse the color and mix the exact shade.

Or at least compare it to a color chart onsite.

One of the very things i was going to do, pity my local shop has the actual guy from the simpsons, comic store guy - i think he'll sell me something without really knowing or caring

I found colour charts don't often match once painted. I might just try light grey if i can get it, it'll be better than the white i got now.

Repainting - want as close to original colour/color as possible

Go to a paint store they will get the exact hue, let them scratch the surface and check the base coat also. Most large stores should have a spectrophotometer

I think the correct A500 color is "satin white-beige". I see lots of people are looking for that or painting the wrong color (some full white for example). There is a "white-beige" primer too, i guess it needs that one too for not to change color at finish.

I used a colour spectrometer to measure the inside of a A2000 keyboard case, with the hope it hadn't yellowed as much there. From it I got the reading NCS S 2005-Y40R.
So, I went ahead and ordered a spray can of that hue, in a 10% matte finish. The purpose was to paint my HC508 case that I 3D printed a while ago.
With the result in hand, I have to say its very close, although not a perfect match for my A500. The tone should have a bit less reddish, maybe S 2005-Y30R or even 20R.
It's hard to tell if it will fit your specific machine, since they all have changed their colour to a different degree over the years.
