I have some problems playing an ancient Amiga game called Chubby Gristle. It is a flick-screen platform game were you must collect different parts of a car.
Everytime when I enter the fourth screen with water at the bottom, Chubby floats around like a maniac and finally bursts. Then it's "Game Over" and you can start the whole game over again. What did I do wrong? I am sure I have collected all objects in the other screens so that cannot be the cause of my "instant death". Any help is appreciated. |

Someone must have played this game
Is there really no one who can help me with Chubby Gristle? Has anyone ever tried to play this game on his Amiga (emulator)? I know it looks very crap at first sight but it has some playability depth. Well, sort of..

Chubby soap
PJ BonoMan,
Chubby Gristle is worth a look if you are curious what an Amiga conversion of a Spectrum game would look like. It looks and plays so.. basic. The game has definitely some cult value. Cody Jarrett, Have you found a way to overcome this 'exploding' problem? I have checked the Internet, but zillions of sites only have a cheat for infinite lives, not a walkthrough. |

Chubby
Not yet - it's strange, as the game doesn't give you any clue as to why you have just died. And like you, I collected all the items on all the screens below. A manual would help.

Maybe the game is bugged. an original dump may be needed. is it a crack or part of a compilation, Tim?

Chubby mystery
The version of Chubby Gristle I own is a crack and comes on a disc which also containsArmy Moves and some music mods. The Chubby-crack has an option for infinite lives. Without a cheat for infinite lives I would not even get past the second screen
However, the trainer does not work when you enter the most right screen Cody has provided. Chubby just seems to explode. I have searched for a manual for the game but without any luck. |

Well, this may or may not be of any assistance, but here's some tips from one of the better Sinclair sites. I know it addresses the blowing up part, but not having played this part of the game, I didn't understand its application here.

It's the pipe... smoking is bad for chubby!
Make sure you DON'T collect the smoking pipe and you won't explode. |

Problems get solved at EAB... eventually.
At last, after forty months pending there is a possible solution for my problem with Chubby, although I cannot remember exactly anymore where it went wrong. Time really flies.

Does the age of thread matter? I like it when people use the search function.

Usually a question is already solved or forgotten in 3 years time, that where I'm getting at. Checking old threads is nice but reading them properly involves reading the date too. It isn't terribly bothering me anyway!

Heh, I didn't realise the date of the thread! I was searching Google for pages on Chubby Gristle on the Amiga and I got this. I couldn't resist replying.
Hope the tip works, I must have played that game throught 100 times when I was young... what a way to spend your youth! |

I got that joke off another forum Burseg so I can't claim copyrights to it.
I'm wondering though why I haven't seen this thread before. I love this kind of games. |
