Ok, editing the "hode.ini" file i.e:
Changing "width=320" --> "width=640" and the game now doesn't crash

What's the best width to set to try and get the largest display possible window?

Edit: 320, 512 and 720 crash for me... I can only set 400 or 640 but the screen size is very small.

Edit 2: grrrrr... now no matter what I choose the game is crashing again. I've only seen it start twice out of ten attempts.

It seems that changing the values on the "width" command has no effect.

To change the screen and the command scale_factor=1, if you try to put 0, 2 or 3 the screen changes the "very low resolution" aspect

If on WinUAE in RGB Board you use the voice "always center" the screen is centered from becomes very small size

I'm waiting for the one of my video you have to leave the defaut settings "scale_factor=1"

Important !!! remove "always center" from WinUAE config

Test Video WinUAE AfA One: Heart of Darkness (Italy version) for optimal mink set the video to 720p

I did have "Always center" ticked under "RTG board". Unticking has made no difference though; still crashing. These are my "RTG board" settings:

Regarding the "hode.ini"; I've left everything as default, only tried changing "width=320" to 400, 512, 640, 720.

I saw your video, that looks great, and what I'd like to achieve

If only the game didn't constantly crash for me.

Carlo; can you try on an standard WB 3.1 hard drive and see if it works for you with the English version?

Nice, but with your config and my .HDF I either get a crash or the following:

Noticed you've set an A4000 chipset and VRAM 256MB under "RTG board".

I've installed standard WB 3.1, Picasso96-2_1.e and RTGmaster_user V42.0.

There's nothing else I should need hey? No certain Libs or anything?

Anyway, that's enough Amiga stuff for me today. I'm tired and have to go into the office early tomorrow; as I do every Wednesday.

Seiya with a standard OS 3.1 works great.

Delete all AHI from your system including preferences and Install AHI 4.18 without the need to configure anything.

To start AHI Prefs (not necessary) remember to copy the bgui.library by hand.

Whilst I was going to sleep I had a brainwave

Maybe it's a "stack" issue?

As I don't have an icon; stack would be set as whatever is default i.e. 8192 for ClassicWB.

I then played around with 10000, and then 100000.

My .HDF now works with your configuration Carlo and a stack of 100000 set

@Carlo: what stack have you set in your icon?

I've just quickly read the replies above; I don't have AHI installed. Do I need this?

Anyway, off to work now so will continue tonight.

I used the default Stack set on the icon 80096, on my RTG systems I do not use the stack anyway, I use the automatic stack provided by StackAttack, With this utility you won't have to worry about the stack anymore

Is your workbench 3.1 the same after installation from 3.1 floppy disk? It not seems watching your video. Maybe you have some command in C and some libs that Commodore 3.1 han't.

Yes that is not standard, but as I said I also tested a Standard 3.1 version and it works well, see new video attached .

As said test my configuration and give the right Stack, Damiano confirmed that now it works also on his 3.1.

Heart of Darkness OS 3.1 Standard + AHI 4.8:
