Atomix should be called "Atomic"?

Sometimes i'm pedantic

Anyway, just discovered that this one

http://hol.abime.net/3336

is called "Atomix"

Now, that is correct according to the box and disk scans

But it's wrong according to the title screen of the game

Indeed this one reports clearly "Atomic" as title

So, the name of this game should be changed ?

The game is called Atomix as can be clearly seen on the disk label. The game name definitely doesn't need to be changed.

And the title pic shows "Atomix" too. The "i" and "x" are artfully aligned.

and reviews and game ads. So there is a whole array of hints that the game should be called Atomix.

I believe that the title screen graphic artist attempted to make stylized letters which looked at the same time as IC and X.

If there were some documents on disk and/or filenames suggesting the name should be Atomic, a change would be more likely to be discussed.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Sadly, i don't own original game to check the disk content and see the file names or documents on it

I guess checking the cracked games is meaningless

Anyway, thanks for the reply lilalurl

Well, if you have some time, take a look at the cracked versions and post back if you find something useful.

At least it would be a sign that it might be worth investigating. Then people who own the original game further investigate.

Also don't forget that now IPF files are allowed on EAB and that you can find most of these on the EAB FTP. So you could check those under Winuae.

Edit: Thanks for that one alexh. Another hint (ST title screen. We also have the DOS title screen under the conversion tab in the HOL entry, should have thought about checking it).
The C64 title screen spells Atomix too:

I wonder if the "clear" titles were made after some people got confused by the Amiga title screen.

No need to be changing anything on this HOL entry

As Retro pointed out regarding the title screen:

...and as has already been pointed out, these clearly show "Atomix":

a) Boxscan
b) Diskscan

@chip; don't you think that if the game was called "Atomic" then both of the above would show this before going into publication?

I have nothing interest in changing the name, for me no problem if it remains "Atomix"

I only spotted the title screen in HOL that reports "Atomic"

IMHO it's not I+C = X, but only a C

Anyway, i'm not the only one confused about the name of this game

Indeed the name of ALL the TOSEC images report the tag "[aka Atomic]"

It's crystal clear that it shows Atomix. This was/is used often enough, mostly for brands/brand names. Seen this in movie titles too.

Something like this: It's RIVA not RIVy.

Well that's just silly IMHO; didn't even notice this in TOSEC... maybe a TOSEC member can explain this unnecessary "[aka Atomic]" addition to the filename?

...cannot check the files on the .IPF as the disk is NDOS, but if you look at the cracks where they would have to rip everything:

I had this game on the ST long ago, even ripped the music

Well, I guess someone not knowing the game has misread the name.
Now just tell people at TOSEC the "aka" is bogus, and end of story.

This triggers an ancient memory... OT: the author ripped off someone? The musician? Coder?

Also, some demo entries have the wrong chipset requirements. We'll just have to keep reporting.

Game name is Atomix.

I'm still in contact with Gunther Kramer who co-wrote Atomix on the Amiga, he had already publised it with (his own label?) Tale when it was brought/bought by Thalion who then ported it to the C64, ST and PC.

Gunther has expressed no malice towards Thalion to me, only happy memories.

Atomix is *perhaps* one of the 2nd year titles where Grandslam, UK publisher who published the 1st year titles, allegedly didn't pay Thalion. The entire story is a bit cloudy, and when I ask it's a sore subject.

**********************************************************************************
Mod note: After this post, alexh posted an interview he made with Günter Krämer, developer of Atomix. Since one of the developers calls the game Atomix, it is getting very unlikely that the game title to be Atomic.

Maybe the game was originally going to be called Atomic and they changed it to Atomix. I don't buy the idea that the Amiga title screen says Atomix. Very clearly says Atomic to my eyes.

Ok, so chip and yourself can't see what everyone else does; and Retro-Nerd posted about in order to try and explain:

Besides that, you have all these sources pointing to the game being called "Atomix":

a) Boxscan
b) Diskscan
c) Manual
d) Conversions
e) Filename on disk.
f) Interview with the author.

Do you really think that Thalion would have gone to production with all media showing "Atomix" if it was actually called "Atomic"?

I mean, what more proof do you guys need???
