WHDLoad registrations.
Given that this is the ultimate Amiga gaming utility, how any WHDLoad registrations have there been?

I know that many members here are registered, but final number might be really interesting.
I'm sure that no matter how many users registered, it would hardly pay for time (and beer) invested into making all of those patches. |

Just thinking out loud, but maybe from a tax point of view, this info is commercially sensitive...??

arguably it could be private information and i would say it should be so.
however commercialy sensitive is a stretch since there is NO competitor! |

Unregistered WHDLoad users are competitor enough!
It took me about a year to get registered. How long for the rest of you? |

@ DDNI:
Much longer! I started using WHDload back in 1998, I think. There were some installs on an Amiga Format CD. Finally I registered in 2005. Mainly because of SSFII AGA. Then I realized that this is a must have app. |

Although i dabble with whdload / jst in the early years (97 i think) thet were not reall that impressive... yeah there were some installs... but mainly to platform games that really didn`t work for.... most of the games i played most infact had genuine hard disk installers or could be made so with a disk copy or two and a few handy "assigns"..(and snoopdos )
now in 2004/5 I kinda got back into the amiga, intially by emu, which had come a VERY long way as had the power of PC's to emulate, within a month or two it had me running down to storage to get my miggies outa the boxes so to speak... after playing with adf's and the such like I found a lot of pre-installed games under WHD... infact i could hardly find anything under its rival JST then my m8 whom had been hearing about my retr0 kick with amiga goes and leaches a DVD's worth whd-pre-installed games... it was only after reviewing all these classic games and seeing all the work that went into it I realised that WHD had become something special to the community in my absence... and then it dawned on me... that as there are very fragile flames in our little passions, this should be supported as such and then i registered! |

I've written 2 installs for demos, so I figure if I get off my butt and write a few more I'll have earned my registration There's no big urgency though as I don't play many games...

Took me about four years to register it. I always meant to do it, but it's so much easier when you use PayPal (which is why I didn't register before as I didn't use it). £15 is an absolute bargain for such a superb piece of softwate.

You mean how long it took me to figure out, that it's THE ultimate gaming hd utility, or how long did i have to wait for a regged key? Nah, nevermind, I don't remember any case
No, really, I've heard about it waaaaaay back in the days (about 1996?), when a polish mag called ACS still came out, and their CD contained a few installs. Unfortunetly, I've not had a CD drive, so... Then, when I got back to me Amy, around 2001, seen a few preinstalled games here and there, couldn't believe how PHUCKING THIS UTILITY RULEZ!!! ... ...sorry - I'm sure you get what I mean Anyways, I've signed to a mass-users-payment key on PPA and after paying about 75 PLN, I've got it |

I'm a "on day one". Heard through EAB that this is the ultimate for todays Amiga gaming experience. And it is And since i'm a grown up earning money, I try to have a better moral than when i was younger. I pay now for all the programs i'm finding useful.

I imagine a similar story for a lot of folk is this.
I have always used adf's up until about the start of 2006.It was at this time that i started using WHDload.Thing is i really had no idea what exactly WHD even was and i was quite happy with adf's.Anything beyond this was of no interest to me because the idea of running floppy games from hardrive was not something anyone would have guessed happening for the Amiga. Can you imagine the wonderfull suprise i got then when i finally discover what it is WHDload actually does and on top of this , the huge amount of games already working on this amazing tool.Magix is where i first saw all these games and i truly was like a little kid getting all the toys he ever wanted.Astounding and in a way i'm quite glad i never knew about this fabulous project because it's one of the coolest suprises ever.Much like when i discovered many years ago that i was using a very old Mame with about 100 games - by then there was over 1000 games on the newer version. WHDload could maybe be better explained to folk discovering emulation because by the time i found out what it does , i had been using Winuae for years.I think more registrations would follow if more people actually knew what it was.Perhaps i was just very stupid or it could have been that i took it for granted Amiga plays adf's and an occasional install from them.I simply didn't know what i was missing and i'm betting loads of people don't know either. Registered by the way and so should anyone else that uses WHD. Last edited by Adropac2; 31 March 2007 at 21:23. |
