Shadow of The Beast WHDLoad Issues
Morning all,
I've spent the last day or so trying numerous WHDload downloads of Shadow of The Beast, as well as having a go at creating my own hard disk version from the original disks and the WHDLoad installer. No matter which version I use they still don't work. I've tried numerous Tooltypes and the majority bomb out as soon as the Roger Dean screen appears, displaying the error "Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" ($2C) at $50006 Occured". If I use NOVBRMOVE the game works fine up until the first scroll text when you start the game. At that point the game completely freezes, and the only way to get out of it is to reboot the Amiga. This is the furthest I've managed to get the game to run. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next. What ToolTypes do you guys have set for this? For reference, I'm using WHDLoad 17.1 and Patcher is in C |

I remember playing preinstalled version of "SotB" few years ago and there were no problems on my A1200 with Blizzard 1230-IV.
Game was downloaded from whdownload page and I was using WHDLoad 16.4. |

I'm using "ShadowOfTheBeast_v2.1b_1357", which I think is from the Killa Gorilla Packs.

Try the reinstalled games in the zone.
Perhaps .zip compression is to blame (again) ? I installed SPS 1414 and 1357, both works for me using latest WHDLoad 17.2.5313 from Oct. 13. http://www.whdload.de/whdload/ (files at the bottom of page) |

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I've now got WHDLoad 17.2.5313 installed, and version 1414 of Shadow of The Beast. I'm currently running OS3.9. My system is an 030 @ 50mhz, with 32 megs of FastRAM installed. I did have VisualPrefs, Birdie, Fblit and PatchWB running from startup. I've disabled these and the game still only gets as far as the title screen before throwing up the Exception "Line 1111 Emulator" error. If I add in NOVBRMOVE I can then get either to the scrolling text once you press fire or a black screen prior to the scrolling title screen of the forests. It just locks the Amiga up completely. Bit of an odd one this, as I've not had anywhere near the issues with other WHDload installed games before I've got them to work. |

Have you tried NOAUTOVEC? I think NOVBRMOVE also stops the quit key working so you have to reboot unfortunately.

Here on A1200 040 the game works with NoCache and WHDLoad 17.2. You may check CUSTOM1=1 (blitterwaits) tooltype.
