How to change the Hardfile Volume name???

Hi,

I want to change the volume name of my hardfiles but it is fixed to DHx, but I need to change it to HDx...
The only way I have found is to patch the executable file Shame on me....

Does any one has a better solution?

Thanx

It's been a long time since I used AmigaDos at the CLI level, but if I recall correctly, you can simply use the "assign" command to effectively create an alias for the device name. On the assumption that you're wanting to change it because you have some stubborn piece of software that expects to find HDx: rather than DHx:, this should work for you.

From a CLI or shell window, enter the command:

assign HDx: DHx:

Then see if that solves your problem. HDx: and DHx: will be synonyms at that point for the same device and if this is something that you need to do on a frequent basis, you can simply add the assign to your startup sequence.

Hope this helps!

Thanx for the tips.

But if I prefer to set it up directly in WinUAE, that's because I have dumped my quite old Amiga Harddrive. And I don't want (and I am not sure that I can anymore) change all configurations by software means, I am sure to forgot a hidden place which will crash my computer... I remember I had several startup-sequence but I don't remember how I did to configure this
Yes, I know: Shame on me...
