looking for 3.1 ROMs

I just bought a 2nd A1200 and wish to put 3.5 on it.

I've shelled out a large amount on my Miggy stuff in recent weeks and I can faintly hear the sound of rustling divorce papers.

So, does anyone have any 3.1 ROMs that they would like to sell me for less than the new price (i.e. at Amigakit)?

Strange that Amigakit say that 3.1 ROMs are essential for OS3.1 - I've been using WB3.1 since it was released, on v3.09 ROMs with no issues at all.

I understand the rustling sound!

If you have a Blizzard or similar board, it may be cheaper to dump the roms from your other 1200 and use BlizzKick to load up 40.68? Just a thought.

Not previously heard of that - but my Blizzard is only a RAM board and I don't have any other. The info says it requires at least a 1230.

I think I've seen mention somewhere that Boo Boo is running Amiga OS 3.5 on 3.0 ROMs.

Im sure someone will disagree but it always seemed a bit of a con to me that OS3.5 & 3.9 needed a Rom upgrade to work.

isn't the rom upgrade optional?
maybe i misunderstood something but the installer is asking if you want to install the rom upgrade, incl a note that if your system doesn't boot with it you should re-install and choose not to use it.

Yeah I wasnt very clear, what I meant was having to upgrage your Rom to 3.1 to use OS3.5 or 3.9 -just an excuse to sell 3.1 Roms.

google won't help right now
but i read somewhere about running 3.9 on a vanilla 1200 by replacing some libs - as i remember icon.lib and?? with the ones from wb3.0/1.

it may will run with 3.0 roms too if you replace 3.1 specific stuff
but which require 3.1 roms? that's the bigger question
and will it be still 'better' as 3.0/1 wb then...

Ive been running OS3.5 on 3.0 Roms for about a Year now and couldnt be happyer, maybe im being a bit unfair it just seemed that 3.1 Rom updates wernt that significant -

It probably is better realy to upgrade the ROM but Im sure they could have made both OS run on 3.0 out of the box but im no expert so what do I know

Sure

- I did try 3.9 but had problems and never looked much further
Although my setup is a bit of a mix between 3.5 and 3.9 - Its a bit dodgy

On the squirrel CD32 emulator that can be found on the EAB file server is a tool called SetVersion.

Yeah, I spotted the SetVersion description from Boo Boo, but I had already committed to buying the 3.1 ROMs so wth.

In fact - I just bought a second set off ebay for £9.51 (sshhh!

), so if I like 3.5 it's going on both
