Adivce on how to fix faulty 1230 card

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me with ways of troubleshooting/fixing myself or sending to someone else to fix my A1200 1230 expansion card? I'm not sure what brand it is as theres no info printed on the card.

When the card is plugged in the machine wont get anywhere on boot up, just the black screen.

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

thanks,

Have you tried pressing "2" key to disable the card at when the Amiga boots? Or holding down both mouse button while booting?

OK, pressing the "2" and "both mouse buttons" just has the machine's power light flickering and the screen going from a black to dark grey screen and thats it.

That is only available if you have a Blizzard/DCE 1230 IV card.

That will show you the 'Amiga Early Startup Control'. Here you can see what Expansion board is installed (i.e it will show you an ID of your Board).

If your amiga is working it should come up with the early boot option when pressing both mouse buttons at startup. Take the 1230 out and try it.

@kaptaintoenail

Try to find out what card it is by looking through the various A1200 accelerators on www.amiga-hardware.com and amiga.resource.cx. When you find out, tell us which one it is.

If the accelerator has any ram on it, try to remove it. If the accelerator has any jumpers on it, try to see if it gives any indication of what they are used for. If the accelerator has any socketed chips, try to give them a firm push, to make sure the chips are firmly installed in the sockets.

If neither of the above helps, try taking a needle and bend each pin in the connector of the card to make better contact with the motherboard.

This will make you laugh.

So it looks to me like an Apollo 1230 Mk-III with an extra dimm slot soldered in. So ive taken out all ram still didnt work. I then tried to take out the second biggest chip on the board on the bottm right of the picture and crack the case .... plugged it back in and it worked....lol

done and done...

So is the brandand model of card any good?

Greatly appreciated
