Amiga CD Emulation

I've recently got my hands on some Amiga CD titles.
(NOTE:I am not refering to CD32 or CDTV titles).

Now being a former CD32 owner I have no idea how to run these games under WinUAE they do not boot under CD32 mode (which they weren't designed for - so I am not surprised).

I have looked through the forum & the wiki and I cannot see any guide for running these games - if I have missed this please direct me to the page.

So any help, advice or a nudge in the right direction will be much appreciated.

You need an installed Amiga OS with cd-rom drivers to play amiga cd games.

Nope, all he has to do is to add his CD as a harddrive in winuae and run directly from the CD.. that will work for most games.....

Do you mean self booting cds with games on, or CDs which have to be run/opened via Workbench?

Anyways, I load workbench first, then goto hard drives, add directory, type CD0 under device name, insert true name of the CD (seek through my computer) and select path to find your Amiga disk - usually D/
Then reboot and an icon should appear on your Workbench screen.
You can probably do all this at once initially.

One game in question is Virtual Ball Fighters and these are the steps I have taken so far:

Using the A1200 Expanded configuration
Added my CD-Rom drive as a Hard Disk
Put Workbench disk image in floppy slot 1
Loaded to workbench
Virtual Ball Fighters Icon appears
It then asks me to install CD
*edit* It states CD Installed but the game will not run, I click on the lowest spec icon and nothing happens

I cannot get further than this

You seem to know as much as I do.
Good luck

BTW. I've never had an Amiga CD that booted straight into the game. Always had to click on an icon or assignCD to get it going.

Extract them and use the latest beta.

Use quick start and select CD32, then the Floppy location turns into an ISO location box, click and select your iso.

Official WinUAE version (2.1.0) is newer than any beta..

Zipped CD images work directly but startup can be slow if zips are big.

Only CD32 and CDTV configurations can boot from CD. CD32 does not use normal KS 3.1. Quickstart selects correct ROMs automatically or complains if they are missing.

Amiga CD (not CD32 or CDTV) games require WB installation.

As toni said.

You need the CD32 Kickstart and CD32 Extended Kickstart.
