It sounds terrible on SB128, each note give a little hiss and gurgle but I haven't tried all combinations of mixing rates and AHI modes yet.

The best I have been able to manage with Octamed and AHI via the Maestrix is it sounding like a two year old is crashing pans together in your ear while a garbage disposal grinds up some rocks. I guess this falls into "AHI-What the christ is it supposed to be doing?". Figuring that it is just an issue with the SB128 (bus contention or something) I tried it on the AD516 with the same results. If I set the AHI mode that the Maestrix is using to Paula 14-bit, it sounds fine. Which is very odd since I didn't even try to match the mixing frequency in Octamed to what the AHI device is set to.

Using SB128 8-bit Stereo Hifi++ 44100khz 2-ch mode works with the Maestrix in Octamed. Make sure smoothing is turned off in the mixing preferences in Octamed otherwise it hisses. I didn't think of the obvious thing which is trying 8-bit modes on the SB128.

Mix mode only, no AREXX triggers. Otherwise the editor is similar but with colorized columns and context menu for the right clicking. What else do you need to know?
