HOL needs you!

As you might know we try to get as much info and scans of Amiga games as possible, but it's just not possible to buy each and every game. So we thought it might be a good idea to let you know which games that have missing data are available right now, so you have the chance to help your beloved HOL team

Well, here's the first batch for now and I'll try to keep track of it.

http://cgi.ebay.de/COMMODORE-AMIGA-5...item3a5bd70d8c (also not in SPS yet)
http://cgi.ebay.de/COMMODORE-AMIGA-5...item3a5bd73c2f
http://cgi.ebay.de/COMMODORE-AMIGA-5...item3a5bd6f5a0

Of course I'll also make a nice list of people who bought games mentioned in this thread

Thanks to DH for editing the pic btw

There was a little problem in the past when I tried to contribute with a lot of my coverscans, I simply uploaded them to a FTP and nothing happened. I tried to announce their presence via the email and without any effect. So please, state the CLEAR WAY how to contribute exactly and put it to the visible place. I already bought few games just because they weren't in HOL, and I still want to scan their boxes and make them public.

As I only just joined the HOL team, I can't say what happened in the past, but you upload them to the FTP and they will be processed if they are suitable. Otherwise I (or another team member) will inform the uploader (as long as it's clear who he is), that there's something wrong and how to fix it. There are still uploads that need to be processed, but I try my best to find some time to add them. It doesn't hurt if you announce your contribution here however

I have processed your contributions in the past and you're credited for 15 points in the HOL team page. I'll check to see if there are any I've missed.

Anyone ever seen this game before : http://cgi.ebay.es/COMMODORE-AMIGA-T...item230410c920 (The Ancient Art Of War) ?
We have the French version in HOL : http://hol.abime.net/3530
Any Spanish member that at least can ask the seller if it's really the Amiga version and not a PC one?

According to mobygames, that was never released on Amiga in English and it looks like microids only released it in French.

Well, there seems to be a Spanish version as well (ingame). Might be a (very) rare case of an English Box and a Spanish game inside. MobyGames isn't a reliable source for 'does not exist' anyway, since they only list what they know (pretty much like HOL). Either way, if that is an Amiga game in the box, it's quite rare

@s2325
Well spotted Where's DamienD when we need him

I'm not Spanish but live in Spain and am pretty fluent with the language. I probably can't help with this as I don't have a credit card, so can't join EBay but if there's any other probs/requests using spanish let me know and I'll be only too pleased to help.

Thanks for the offer Basquemactee1
You could ask him via email (at the bottom of the eBay page) if he knows which ingame language the game has. You don't need to tell him that you're not going to buy it of course

Hi All,

You will find the box and the manual is in Spanish.

This game would be an Amiga release but only published by Dro Soft. I actually have a few Dro Soft published games myself.

You will find most likely this release would be in a different language (most likely English) and its box cover and manual would be in Spanish.

Dro Soft used to deal with distributions in Spain for Accolade, Broderbund, Electronic Arts based titles under distribution license deals.

A lot like how ERBE dealt with Ocean, Rainbow Arts, US Gold, etc titles.

MCM and System4 did similar things.

The main ones were: DroSoft, ERBE, MCM and System4. You will even find some games released by these distributors contained the original disks from the original publishers of the game.

Not all were re-branded like this. Then again I am yet to see a DroSoft distributed game to not be re-labeled/re-duplicated in some way.

The rest cannot be said for ERBE, MCM or System4 releases. They're quite a hit and miss with a mixture of re-labeled/re-duplicated disks, or just the originals direct from the mass EU/USA publisher(s) involved in the original release.

Hope this information helps clear things up a little better.

That's the problem here. We found a Spanish version (ingame language) and the box and manual title is in English. So far we have no evidence that an English Amiga version exists. Would make very little sense to design a box and manual cover with English text if the game was only published in France and Spain... I hope you see the problem here Really, we need some real proof as for now it's quite messy. Best way would be of course if someone bought the game and checks what's what first hand...
