A500-040+Trumpcard+IDE+CF a la Toni
Made it work at 1.9MB/s, but I am still not sure my combo of 68040 and Trumpcard drivers is 1000% reliable. Not one problem in two days, still I have had to fiddle a bit with doing things in a certain order on the bootdisk startup-sequence.
Where can the latest PP&S A500-040 and (68040-compatible) IVS Trumpcard 500 drivers be fetched? Are these the latest ones? http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/ Only nag left then is that some program in the harddisk startup-sequence wants to write something to the bootdisk, will find out what it is. I think I've assigned all env:, libs: etc to the harddisk - but is there a list of which assigns are necessary? Last edited by Photon; 11 November 2008 at 10:55. Reason: url |

I remember now. Deep inside my porridge-like substance (more like porridge now than 20 years ago!! ) something said 'execute'. Which writes the script it executes to Sys:t. So I will fix that.
Trying the disks... trumpcard disks had TCutils 2.2, I have 2.5. Any newer ones? Will search... Tips for ftps? |

Assigning T: to ram disk should fix execute issue.
Can't help with your HD problems, I don't have A500/CDTV compatible 68030+ accelerator yet |

Yeah.
I seem to have solved the problem. All the apps that caused invalidation (basically any app that creates files, changes file protection/name, etc) have caused none. Wasn't sure if FastROM could cause these kinds of issues, will try that now. Got the latest Installer and the latest (v2.2 / 2.4 / 37.4) driver disk for the 68040, so that I made a proper installation. I then prepped a clean boot floppy and made sure I had the proper libs and commands. The latest Trumpcard drivers I can find, v4.3, are older. I think there is a v4.9 of the Trumpcard drivers, though it seems to be nowhere. A Slovenian coder also made an optimized one that was competing with DMA speeds. Can't find that one either. Anyway, I'm happy it works and is fast Hm, suddenly my WB hangs after clicking on a few icons. I changed something in the startup-s, I wonder what. Any guide as to what WB needs, somewhere? As always, try Snoopdos, Scout and Lawbreaker to pinpoint the misbehaving application.

You seem to speak English, yet you use words not in my extensive vocabulary. :P
Hmzkidoki. Well, I think it's just some assign. Trying CPU FASTROM in 68040 at the mo, hold yer breath. Amiga atom bomb cloud imminent. |

I heard someone built their own 060 also!
OK, FastROM worked. But CF speed gain was 0%, and I cared more about +1MB more memory than the +12% in MFLOPS. Lowered the number of buffers from 48 to 20 with a little performance loss, from 1.9 MB/s to 1.77 MB/s. About half those speeds in 68000 mode. (I have 2 partitions, so I need to free some memory in 68000/2.0/512K chip+512K slow-mode.) I like to have everything I make and use to work in this mode also. So now I can go from 68000/1.2/512K chip to 68000/1.3/512K chip+512K slow to 68040/2.0/5MB memory total. -- I noticed one thing. Even when I enabled fastROM, Sysinfo reported graphics.library etc in slowmem. When I switched the slowmem off, they were put in chipmem. Can I move them into the acc board's memory somehow? Is that what Setpatch does? In that case, I have to init the cpu before Setpatch so it sees the memory, right? |

Use fastmem first as the first thing in your s-s.
Why do you have slowmem? Shouldn't that motherboard be modified to attach it to your chip mem pool? |

I thought kick 2.0+ did that automatically, that FastMemFirst was a <kick 2.0 command only? Anyway, I switched the slowmem off, and then the libs end up in chip instead of true fast or slowmem... probably because the init040 command hasn't been run until s-s starts. And possibly that the board's autoconfig is f'ed.

FastMemFirst command is available since the first A2091.

Well, I'll try it. But it's not on aminet? And was not installed by my WB 2.05 disks. If I find it, should I get the one for WB 2.05, the lastest one for any V37, or the latest one, period?

Check the priorities of your mem blocks using sysinfo or something else.
