Reboot system from CLI

Is there a way to restart a machine from the command line? I run a BBS with a shell and would like to occasionally restart it from the command line to free up memory.

The "Reset" command resets the hot system while the command "Reboot" instead makes a cold reboot eliminating everything from the Ram (great when there is a virus in memory).

The "Flush" command or other similar applications is very convenient for cleaning up the used libraries that allow you to replace the libraries (erasing them from the memory) without rebooting the system.

OS3.1 Install floppy comes with a C/Reboot.

Hm, no. There's lots of things, including viruses, that remain resident and survive just about any reboot command.

Nothing survives if reboot command clears execbase pointer (or any other method that causes KS to rebuild exec from scratch) before rebooting.

Well, that is not part of the OS and it appears to do the exact same as "avail flush", except that it prints out what it managed to flush. When referring to third party tools, it would be nice if you could link to which you speak of, there are several reboot/reset/flush commands on Aminet.

The "standard" Reboot command that comes with OS 3.1 does not fully resets systems, resident kickstart modules loaded with LoadModule, RAD disk devices, and programs written to survive (TimeKeeper, BootCtrl etc and yes - viruses), will survive.

On that topic - would be nice with a "flusher" that prints out what it did _not_ manage to flush, and what program that "hold" the resource.
