SPS .ipf plug-in using WINUAE
Hello there
I am using the WINUAE emulator and want to use your .ipf plug-in with it. I have googled the problem and done what i think is correct but when I try to load an .ipf game the emulator is still telling me I need the plug in. I'm a bit of a novice so please bear with me, I am using the 64bit version of WINUAE so I downloaded the 64bit version of the plug-in 1) is this correct? 2) Do I place just the CAPSImg.dll file or the entire capsimg.binary folder in the required location? 3)Where exactly is the required location? In the main WINUAE folder? AMIGA PROGRAMS folder? or somewhere else? 4) Is there anything else I need to do? rescan etc? Many Thanks, Andy. |

CAPSImg.dll belongs in the same folder as the winuae.exe. If you have problems with the 64bit version, try the 32bit dll.

I tried both versions but no luck i'm afraid. There's wasn't a plugin folder so i tried both in winuae.exe.
The game in question is Alien Breed. I can get the plug-in and game to work on AmigaForever8 but i can't customise the keyboard controls. I can easily customise controls on WinUAE but can't get the game to work. So frustrating. |

You don't need the 64-bit version of WinUAE; unless you're setting huge amounts of RAM i.e. 512MB plus for OS 4.1...
Download / extract the 32-bit version of WinUAE to somewhere on your hard drive. Download the Windows (32-bit) - Version 5.1 of the SPS .IPF plugin, open the archive, go into the "capsimg_binary" directory and extract "CAPSImg.dll" to where you extracted WinUAE to. Done |

For WinUAE 64-bit, just grab v5.1 plugin and rename 64-bit dll to CAPSImg_x64.dll and place it alongside winuae64.exe.

For some reason the Alien Breed ipf file doesn't load for me either. But if you try something else. I tried Ugh!.ipf, it loads up fine. So I guess it's just that specific release.

Which version of Alien Breed? IPF 998? At me it runs without any problem.

maybe update your capsimg.dll. Some IPF files require version 5. Another issue is 64/32 bit mixup. But in that case no IPF file can be read.

I used the version from Dream17 Softography https://dream17.abime.net/softograph...=3&s=downloads and use the 64-bit v5.1 capsimg library from the x64 folder inside the zip. Unfortunately the Team17 site which has published those images isn't online anymore.
(I post the link because FS-UAE has a download link for them to dream17.info but fails. And as far as I know dream17.abime.net is a mirror, so I think it's okay) Last edited by Senjin; 07 October 2022 at 06:31. |

Mind you, I don't need to get this working myself. I'm just chipping in and saying to op he isn't the only one with issues with that game and ipf.

Out of curiosity, I checked version from link you provided. It works correctly. I am using caps 5.1 x64, WinUAE x64 (different versions). The only thing I can think of is maybe a bad WinUAE configuration for this game?
As a matter of fact, I haven't encountered any game in IPF format that doesn't work. |

You are right and I feel stupid. I was trying to load the image on a A1200. It works fine on a A500. I could swear I played it on A1200, but that must've been a WHDLoad version.

Ipf probs
Trying to follow Hoffmans cracking stream and using ipfs but keep getting the following:
I have relevant sps dlls as I can dbl-click ipfs and they run ok. It just throws this msg when trying to mount an ipf whilst in action replay. I have Amiga Forever and have tried via the tools/launch and via a separate winuae folder with relevant CAPSImg.dll in the same location. Also tried 32 and 64 bit variants. Any help greatly appreciated. |
