whdload gauntlet 3 & PGA Euro Tour

hi, i recently installed whdload and d/loaded gauntlet 3 and pga euro tour whd files from amiga.magix.name, the problem is when i load gauntlet 3 it loads the title screen, i press f1 and choose a character then the screen goes blank and the game status bar comes on for a split second then the screen garbles and goes blank, any ideas????

pga euro tour: loads and plays perfectly apart from the putting where everything slows down to snails pace, any idea what's wrong here?, i noticed in the read me something about speed issues, but gave no indication what to do

my system is: a1200 40gb seagate hd blizzard 1230 mk iv 68030 @ 50mhz 16mb ram

edit: whdload is a amazing tool , i'll be registering in the next couple of days

Question Incompatible version?

Have you got the latest PGA Euro Tour slave? The newest one speeds the game up a lot, and you can try the CACHE tooltype to get even more speed. I think the install is an oldie using OSEmu and the game may be using the built in maths libraries to calculate the position of the ball. Updating the install to use kickstart 1.3 might help fix the speed issues but I've got several other things to do before that.

BTW are you using an original image for Gauntlet 3? Sounds like it could be an unsupported version or something...

i'll give pga another go and let you know how i get on, the gauntlet 3 download was a complete one with the all the needed data it just needed unlzxing so it's probably a bad disk or incompatible one that was used in the first place...

No, the PGA European Tour on amiga.magix.name has the latest WHDload slave. I just checked.

I downloaded PGA European Tour from amiga.magix.name a few weeks ago and noticed the same slowdown. I just assumed that's the way the game was. I got annoyed with it and just went back to the much better Microprose Golf.

I have the original AGA game and used the JOTD install on my 1200 a while ago, which worked fine, only problem was, there was no quit option. After moving to Winuae i dowloaded the WHdload version and the slowdown problem on the greens is very apparent. It also happens on the fairway. The ball flies fine but the problems occur when its rolling. JOTD released a v2 which offers a quit key but needs a full re-install. As my 1200 is out of action, i do not have the original images to see if the JOTD install works better. Does anyone know if it does? And if so, anyone prepared to Zone it?

Thanks

mmmm

No joy here i`m afraid, still getting the slowdown on either cody`s version or JOTD.

@sexywayne - Are you running Winuae or real amiga ?

If winuae what version and config are you using ?

Thanks in advance

P.s Have tried some downloaded ADF`s and they work perfectly, so i must have a config problem

Hey, after trying unsuccessfully to get the JST version installed (patchexe didn't work), I just added the CACHE tooltype to the WHDload version and the slowdown is gone!

(I usually try the CACHE tooltype, but for some reason I never tried with PGA European Tour before.)

Well I'm using the ECS version of PGA Euro Tour (on A500 33Mhz 020, 8Mb) so maybe there's a difference there.

Edit: Uh...I just found out that I didn't get the PGA Euro Tour from magix - ECS is not even there. (....bangs head on wall to check if skull is hollow... ) But I did get the slowdown mentioned.

nope adding a NTSC tooltype didn't make any difference, I just found another game that does the same: Int 3D Tennis the screen goes green and all wonky, it also does this on the floppy version so I know it's nowt to do with Whdload

It might be better to add a PAL tooltype instead of NTSC if 60Hz is a problem?

(I'm pretty sure that NTSC is 60Hz, whereas PAL is 50Hz)
