Question Name the best in-game music!

It is common for the game producers to use the best soundtrack for the game intro!

However, there were many games that had a superb music sequence through the whole game!

Name those games that had the best in-game music according to their category.

I'll start the thread with Super Hang-On, R-Type and Kid Chaos.

Super Hang-On was so cool for gaving you the option to choose the music you like!

I loved the ingame music of Dragon Wars. Z-Out had some great ingame tunes so did Hybris. And I loved the music of Dynablaster multiplayer...it's just so damn funny.

I always liked the music of The Great Giana Sisters! Different tempo according to the level difficulty!

Oh, and the theme of Beach Volley!

This is probably due to nostalgia, but I always loved the Amberstar in-game music, especially when riding on the eagle or on a raft (not entirely certain if it was the same for raft and boat, but IIRC it was).

Also thought the music for Elf was great, and Turrican II is another obvious one (though Turrican has already been mentioned).

Oh, and I forgot Chuck Rock, though the intro music carried through.

I also liked the music on Frontier, but then that was from rather earlier than Frontier itself- don't think Grieg et al envisioned that destination for their compositions.

Amberstar had some nice tunes. But they're not so good when not in conjunction with the game itself I think.

Yeah, thats probably true - the immediate rush of memories whenever I hear them really ups their value for me, which is why I get the feeling I rate them so highly due to nostalgia rather than inherent quality. I would have thought that's true of many games, albeit there have been several people in this thread who mentioned they listen to mp3s of the music (then again, perhaps the nostalgia still applies out of context? It does for me).

Leander had a brilliant intro tune, but I can't recall if that carried through into the game - I have an adf somewhere, so will have to refresh my ears. I made a tape years ago of all the songs I liked from my Amiga games, but I can only remember Amberstar and Leander were on it.
